The error, water pooling in a containment pan on the bottom of the dishwasher, was caused by a leaking discharge hose. The hose had rubbed on the base frame of the dishwasher and made a small hole. Replacement drain hose for your dishwasher. Connects from the pump to the sink or garbage disposal. Order a new hose if yours is cracked or leaking.
This tube connects the water supply to the middle wash arm of the dishwasher, delivering pressurized water so the spray arm can spin and clean dishes on the upper rack. It runs vertically from the lower area of the tub up to the mid-level spray arm assembly. Replace this tube if the middle spray arm is not spinning, dishes on the upper rack are not getting clean, or if you notice leaks or cracks in the tube.
Part was updated from original equipment (3 pieces) to a one piece tube. Snip the top of hanger loop then install. Just a couple minute job. Updated tube is much better than the original design. Read more

I replaced the pump and motor assembly. I also proactively replaced the fill hose while I had the dishwasher out since it was decades old. GE now only sells a generic kit. There were about 7 different sets of directions for different groups of models, and myriad adapters and other parts to support all of them.
