The oven control and overlay assembly are installed directly in the front of the main console of the oven. They contain the control interface of the appliance. When the overlay assembly and control interface malfunction, normally, the backlight goes out behind the console. The user is unable to see any controls or function information. This malfunction can be caused by electrical short or external damage. It's possible a fuse could be the problem, and a voltage tester can give you a clear indication of where the problem lies. Begin the installation by unplugging the oven first. Using a screwdriver, unthread the screws around the perimeter of the main user interface. This will allow the casing around the console to come off. On the rear of the oven, remove the screws holding the back panel in place until the control board can be seen. Unscrew the control board assembly from the control overlay assembly. Repeat these steps in reverse with the new part. This GE oven control and overlay assembly is a genuine OEM product sourced directly from the manufacturer. The listed product is sold individually. This part is compatible with GE, Kenmore, HotPoint, RCA, and Kenmore.
