All of the information on the web repair sites said "replace the hinges as the springs are worn out." Didn't fix the problem. The top of the door still wouldn't seal, and the. Leaning latch wouldn't catch the door unless you pressed on the door. The inside panel of the door was fatigued. Too many turkeys were set on the door over the years. I bought the replacement knobs from Appliance Parts Pros.com and they were much better knobs that what originally came with the unit. They are actually metal and the plastic posts that connect with the range are a much higher grade plastic. To be honest I think the stove works better than it did when it was new. Some of the original knobs may have been broken when we purchased the unit. Replacement took under 5 minutes for all of the knob. Oh....and by the way....they appear to be the same... Read more

First swapped other working burner and the problem moved. This verified that the problem was with the burner element and not something else. I order the part from ApplianceParts. The new burner connector looked different than the old one but the new one fit fine. The time to fix was less than five minutes and required no tools. Read more

I examined the inner burner heads and determined that two of the most frequently used burners were warped and were not making good contact with the burner base. It's a GE Profile series stove about 10 -12 years old. Disconnected ( already tripped) breaker in the panel. Lifted cooked top unscrewed the glass top and set aside. I took the picture of the wires connected to the control on my ipad and replaced broken control. reconnected the wires as per picture. Cleaned the greased glass top and replaced the infinite switch seal for the broken control. Then reinstall glass top back on the cooktop and put the cooktop back in in place. Worst part of job was sliding stove out from wall. Remove 4 small screws from shield on top of stove, disconnect two connectors from switch rocker, push lock tabs inward so you can push switch rocker outward from back toward burners threw frame of stove, insert new unit until click locks, reconnect wires, and reinsert shield back on top stove and secure with 4 screws removed earlier. A very common problem with the GE oven is the dreaded F7 error code. I purchased the control board as well as the keypad and replaced both. The error code could have been either part but since I saw a lot of grease, I chose to change out both even though I isolated the problem to the keypad only. By resetting the error first by hitting the clock button on the keypad, turning off the power,disconnecting the keypad, then turning back on the power if the code doesn't come back it's the keypad. ... Once I watched the video on your site about gas line install, it became apparent why the line bent when I raised the lid.. also discovered those two rods have nest to go into and the lid/top now sets down tight as designed ( and as an added bonus, gas smell disappeared during oven use) I ordered the gas lines with the model number, ordered all four …. it was a bit of a chore one came up when site opened I picked it, but did not know if it was the RH or LH etc.. so reading some of your answers...
