Ordering the right part is the key. This is the element with 3 wire connectors NOT the usual kind with 2 prongs that slide in. Thank goodness this company carries these elements for old GE built-in stoves. I'm not super handy but replaced two in about 40 min. Make sure you save the old ceramic clamps. The three prongs of the element with connected wires need to fit completely in the ceramic grooves so the two sides can be clamped together. The new element comes with everything you need but... Unplug range. Open oven door to gain access to the cook top lock-down screws, located under the front edge of the cook top. Tip the cook top up and carefully remove it by pulling forward. Set aside in a safe place. Remove old, burned-out, element by removing the single lock tab, located on one of the three mounting posts, then lift up. Leave the wiring attached. Easy fix. Both elements replaced while I was at it, so all new. Figured if one went the other was going to follow. CIRCUIT BREAKER OFF. Removed the back metal panel with my nut driver for the hex head screws. Note where the panel may slip under tabs for support. Remove slip on electrical connections on upper and lower elements. May need a pliers. (I did not want to just pull the element and the wires into the oven with the element and remove them there, like a technician would do. After 15... Read more

Ordered replacement part, it shipped really fast. Part was exactly the right thing. Unscrewed 2 screws and pulled some slack out the wires. Disconnected the wire clips. Repeated steps to put in new part. Worked like a charm! Read more

With the help of Wendee and Karen, we finally figured out my model numbers and which parts where correct. I ordered the parts and all arrived the next day except for the Broiler element which arrived in 2 days. I installed the new Baking Element myself. Took longer to figure out which curcuit braker to turn off. In about 30 minutes I had a brand new Baking Element in my oven working perfectly. On the following day, I installed the Broiler Element. That took a bit longer as it sits in a metal... Read more

I called GE and they sent a tech out. $89 service call. Had I REALLY inspected the oven the hidden element had blown and separated and part of it welded itself to the inside of it's compartment. GE wanted another $350 to come back and fix it. I bought the part here for around $55 and had it running again in about an hour! Read more

Removed the defective burner labeled the leads as to their location and coil connections. Replaced the connections to the corresponding locations, 1 to 1, 2 to 2 and the bridged terminal as it was. I noticed that the coils in the replacement burner were not wound in the same direction as the original burner and made note of this. In the middle of Christmas baking, I noticed that it was taking a really long time to bake bread. Since I had already done 5 batches and the timing was always the same, I knew when I had to add 20 min, something was wrong. The stove was a 40 year old drop in model so we had to turn off the breaker to the oven before getting started. We removed the baking racks then used a small drill bit to remove the old baking element making sure not to allow the wire to slip back into the back of the stove (very important). Installed the new baking element by slipping the wire connector onto the new element. Replaced the screws, restored power, tested the oven and voila it worked. Easy peasy. Read more
