We noticed a puddle of water in front of the fridge a couple of months ago-dried the floor up both times and thought someone had dropped ice-or spilled water. A couple of weeks ago there was water dripping through the dropped tile ceiling in the basement. Replaced original (18 yrs.) 1/4" plastic tubing, clamp and grommet (AppliancePartsPros/GE parts) from outlet of ice maker water control valve to ice maker inlet. Also replaced water supply line to inlet of water control valve with new, GE braided, PEX 1/4" supply line with pre-attached female compression fittings on both ends. Pulled down the existing drain tube and installed new one. Tight area so it requires two hands to push up and attach the new tube. The short rubber tubing attached to the new drain tube has to fit snug onto the plastic tube connection that hangs down. I replace the water inlet valve in my refrigerator about 8 months ago. About a week ago, the old plastic water line broke. I forgot how the water line connector worked and broke the valve trying to pull it out. I got a new valve and replacement water line, and it went in easily, just like the video said. Thanks to the AppliancePartsPro, I ordered it online and received it quickly. I even used the step by step directions on how to replace the tube from the AppliancePartsPro website. Just be very careful and review the instructions first. Couple of important things: 1. Take a picture of the existing wiring and tubes before you take them apart. 2. *if* you remove the wires ( red and white plugs) from the valve, make sure you plug them back in correctly. 3. I checked the water supply to the solenoid valve and it was okay, but no water was getting passed the valve. I checked the 115 vac signal from the ice maker to the valve and it was present. Unfortunately I did not know to depress the white fitting on the outlet of the valve to release the line to the ice maker so I cut it, and had to purchase a replacement. Had to cut the old line at the water storage tank and attach the new one using the connector fitting from the kit. The new line was run on the outside of the refrigerator to reach the solenoid valve on the opposite side. The is no route within the refrig other than under the compressor/motor. Not the best situation but I secured the line with cable clamps. Read more
