Greg F Madison , MS December 13, 2016 Bad freezer gasket Incredibly simple replacement job. The "how to" video which accompanies this part suggests to leave the gasket in a tub of hot water OR to leave it out in the sun to soften. If it's an option, I recommend leaving it out in the sun. Since I had to do this job in the winter, leaving it out in the sun was not an option for me, so I soaked it in a hot tub for about an hour - the problem with this is that the gasket has a number of pin-holes to let air out of the gasket as it closes, soaking this in a tub allowed the gasket to take on water & I had to spend some time trying to drain it all out of the gasket. After installing the new gasket & closing the freezer door, MAKE SURE to go back & check the seal - you'll need to run your finger along the gasket in the channel between the magnetic strip and the rubber to ensure the magnetic strip is adhering to the metal of the appliance body. I think this is addressed in the video - just don't install it and close the door then walk away thinking you're done. I completed this job fully by hand, the old gasket just pulls out easily, and the new one presses into the gasket channel in the door as easily. Joseph R Mcdonough , GA January 30, 2017 Freezer door gasket First i received my gasket and removed it from the shipping box. I placed it outside, flat on table in sun to regain its shape etc. just few hours. Then I removed old gasket by pulling on it out of the frame insert. Then placed each corner of new gasket in frame, followed by the rest.. works like a charm.. "Hint".. Once new gasket is placed and secure it does take about a day to fit the shape so freezer air will probably leak but dont worry give it time to shape itself..
