Ge Water Tank Assembly
Genuine Ge part
By: Ge
Part Number: WR17X11440

The Water Tank Assembly is an OEM part for GE refrigerators, designed to store and chill water before it's dispensed through the refrigerator's water dispenser. This integral component ensures that you have immediate access to cold, fresh water without the need to open the refrigerator, helping to conserve energy and maintain the internal temperature.

Over time, the water tank assembly can experience issues such as leaks, cracks, or the buildup of contaminants, all of which can affect the quality and taste of your water.

Symptoms of a bad Water Tank Assembly include:

  • Leaks or puddling water beneath the refrigerator
  • A noticeable drop in water flow from the dispenser
  • Unpleasant taste or odor in the dispensed water
  • Visible cracks or damage to the tank or its connections

This OEM GE part can also be used on Hotpoint, RCA, and Kenmore/Sears appliances.

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Water tank leak   Gordon T. • Jonesboro , AR • January 27, 2017

Our refrigerator takes care of my wife and I, along with our children when they visit, and the grand kids. Over the years, it's seen its fair share of wear and tear. Thankfully, nothing major has happened that hasn't been able to be repaired right here in the home, and by me. Our refrigerator is a GE side-by-side with an ice maker/water dispenser, and has held up well. I've ordered parts for it from AppliancePartsPros.com for all of its repairs, and while GE/Frigidaire have been changing out a... Read more

Ge Cold Water Reservoir
Genuine Ge part
By: Ge
Part Number: WR17X11324

The cold water reservoir is an OEM replacement part for GE refrigerators. It serves a dual purpose, holding the supply of cold water needed for both the ice maker and water dispensing functions. This ensures that each ice cube is formed from chilled water and that cold water is always ready to be dispensed.

Causes of a bad reservoir can include cracks, fractures, or leaks developing in the plastic over time due to repeated filling and draining. Mineral deposits or contamination of the water supply can also compromise performance.

Symptoms of an issue include:

  • Inability to fill with water or retain water levels
  • Leaking water inside the refrigerator
  • Irregular or inconsistent ice production

This GE replacement part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore refrigerators.

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You The water coming from the ice maker and water dispensor had a foul odor and taste even after changing the filter   David H. • Needham , MA • May 15, 2015

I replaced the supply line to the fridge - no change in taste. I replaced the MWF manifold and tubes, the water inlet valve and the water storage line. That did it, good tasting water again! The ice still has a bad taste, so I'll replace the supply tube from the valve to the ice maker. Overall, replacing these parts was easy and the videos from Appliance Parts Pros helped. Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Refrig: no water busted water tank   Michael S. • Boca Raton , FL • June 08, 2015

Had to remove all three food drawers and the back panel behind the drawers (4 screws). The water tank comes with the associated tubing which would typically require access to the back of the fridge to run the new lines. Instead I clipped the existing lines inside the fridge. Then I clipped the lines off the new tank so they would line up with the old lines. I then used a 5/16" OD compression coupling (Lowes or Home Depot) to connect the ends of the tubing together. The joined tubes are... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Leak in top of water tank   Merle M. • Valley Center , CA • August 23, 2014

Installing the tank went quickly. Removed the water filter from the upper compartment to stop water flow to the tank. Had to remove the two lower drawers (they tilt out of their sliding frames). There is a glass shelf that should be pulled out - it slides out via two notches in the front frame. The water tank is behind a white metal cover held by 4 screws. Keep track of all of the parts including the lip seals from the shelf. I used two Watts 5/15x5/16 couplers from Lowes for the connections.... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You No water from dispenser ice maker ok frozen water reservoir   Ian M. • Lynden , WA • February 25, 2017

Found water reservoir had frozen solid and had cracked (no idea yet why it froze). I had previously fixed a frozen drain from the cooler by wrapping 12 Ga bare copper wire around the heater element and routing into the drain hole and that was working and clear. So I ordered and replaced both water reservoir and water reservoir heater in case the heater was not working fully. Very Easy to fix by removing vegetable drawer and shelves. Only tool was a Philips screwdriver. I did NOT replace hoses... Read more
