General Electric Refrigerator Motor

Lack of water was due to frozen water reservoir on refrigerator side. Frozen water was due to temperature issues - cold on bottom of both freeder and refrigerator side, warmer at top. This was caused by evaporator fan failure. The fan had come loose from its housing and eventually vibrated itself to death - wire leads had vibrated open. Replaced the evaporator fan motor. On line video did a good job showing how to remove and install the motor. It took about 2 hours to remove, 3 days to recieve the new part and 3 hours to put it in. Plugged in the refrigerator and looked at the freezer temp the next morning and the thermometer was at zero degrees F with good air flow. Refrigerato temperature is reading 40 degrees F. Read more

I replaced the fan and heater element. The replacement was not an exact match. I had to adjust the parts to get the harness to fit the plug was not the correct size. I cut it off and used the existing plug. Not a big deal and everything else fit. Pretty good for a twenty year old replacement. Also the heater element was a different shape but it fit as is.
