Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Evaporator fan making noise/changing speed; freezer light socket bad   Paul S. • Albany , OH • November 26, 2016

Had some confusion of what part I needed, needed the one with the motor and thermostat. Fortunately, I've been fixing wiring for many years, I simply cut the new motor out of the harness, and used that nice glue-inside-heat-shrink tubing to seal the soldered 'Western Union' style splices. New light socket and lamps fit fine, worked fine, new motor is fine, problem resolved. FYI: Look closely at the wiring in you unit, there are two wire harnesses, one feeds the light, the other feeds the motor... Read more

Ge Dispenser Crusher Motor (Ice Dispenser)
Genuine Ge part
By: Ge
Part Number: WR60X10262

This replacement motor powers the dispenser's auger/crusher mechanism to move ice from the bucket to the chute. Replacing a weak or seized motor helps restore reliable cube or crushed-ice dispensing from the freezer door.

  • Drives the ice auger/crusher to feed ice from the bucket through the dispenser chute
  • Helps deliver cubes or crushed ice, depending on the control selection
  • Common symptoms: no ice dispensing, auger not turning, loud humming or grinding, intermittent or weak dispensing
  • Located in the freezer-door dispenser assembly and engages the ice bucket coupler
What's included: One dispenser crusher motor. Install notes:
  • Disconnect power to the refrigerator before servicing
  • Remove the ice bucket and dispenser trim/panel to access the motor; note wire orientation and fasteners
  • Transfer any mounting hardware or coupler from the old motor
  • Reassemble, restore power, and test ice dispensing

I cut it off and used the existing plug. Not a big deal and everything else fit. Pretty good for a twenty year old replacement. Also the heater element was a different shape but it fit as is.
