Full disassembly of removable tray into top plate (stainless) and lower pan taking care not to loose fasteners. Removal of terminal blocks using lubrication on rusted screws and, if necessary, drill out technique. Unclip wires from edges of the tray on both sides without losing the clips for future re-use. Removed 3 screws on top of door, 3 screws on bottom if door which released glass front. Then removed 4 nuts on sheet metal window cover to get to window. To get to the broken glass there was one tab on the corner of the window frame that had to be bent upward to loosen the frame. Removed the broken glass, slid in the new glass, re tightened the frame and put everything back together. After looking at several YouTube videos that were only moderately helpful for my particular model, I disconnected the power at the breaker, disconnected the wires below the cooktop to the junction boxed lifted the whole unit out, including the fan assembly. I flipped it upside down and took off the screws holding the unit to the glass top. Although the new fan switch did not look the same as the original switch, the new switch does fit. I got online to research what the problem could be and came to realize the infinite switch had probably shorted out when the element broke. Turned the power off. Lifted the oven door up and off.to make access easier and to clean an replace gasket.Then unscrewed the element brackets. Cleaned oven. Took oven door apart to replace gasket ,you have to separate the door halves to clean window and get the gasket out. This is where you better take pictures and notes. This couldn't have been simpler! Removed the glass panel by taking out 4 screws on the bottom that were accessed by opening the oven door. Lifted up, then pulled the panel forward, released one electrical connection, and the panel was disconnected and could be laid on a flat surface. I replaced the downdraft fan and fan motor of my 25 year old JennAire C301 cooktop. The issue was getting the fan/motor assembly out in such a tight place. I had to first remove the fan cover, cut the wires, then the assembly came out. Putting back wasn't as tough although getting the cover back on (over the motor) was a bit of a strain. Wired it back, turned it on, and was thrilled. Now I'll replace the knobs and burners and we're back in business. Read more

Once you are resigned to disconnecting the exhaust fan system under the range so you can remove the range from the surrounding counter, the rest is easy. once out, its 8 screws to remove the top and 8 screws to remove the heating elements, and 2 simple wire conneop back onto the stovectors.
