When we first removed the drain filter from the washer, we noticed the O-ring had a slight defect which made removal hard and reinstallation almost a nightmare. Finally we ordered another filter when we ordered a water valve/thermistor for the mother-in-law's washer. Filter installed a lot easier than the original one. Should have ordered one way sooner! Because the dishwasher made noise only when washing or rinsing, and not when filling, the problem was correctly diagnosed as a faulty circulation pump. Although not difficult, it took more time to remove the dishwasher from under the counter and to reinstall it (approximately one hour) than it took to swap out the circulation pump (5 minutes). I watched the appliancepartspros.com video to make sure I had identified the right part before I ordered it. After receiving the part, it was easy — the part itself twisted off without tools (pliers were helpful to remove and reattach the drain hose), and I was able to complete the repair without pulling the dishwasher out from under the counter. Ordered a new pump and installed, took about 15 min. Reinstalled the dishwasher and tested still not draining. Disassembled and checked for pump power and found no problem. Removed drain hose from pump housing and found a blockage cleaned out blockage and hooked up the shop vac to drain hose under sink and made sure it was clean. Reassemble and reinstall with old pump, works great! Guess I now have a spare pump in stock. Read more

Removed the 4 Torx (T-20) screws to remove the bottom tray, loosened the 2 steel adjustable hose clamps and disconnected the hoses from the old pump. Removed the 2 Torx screws from the drain pump mounting bracket and the 2 that mount the pump to the bracket. Discarded the old pump, reversed the above process for installating the new pump and the dishwasher is functioning normally again. All in well under 30 mins. Read more

I called AppliancePartsPros, talked to a technician to validate problem, ordered part. I had a great talk with the technician. Told him I have electrical engineering experience, used to fix pinball machines and that the pinballs and home appliances were the same design, i.e. inductor in series with a switch across the hot lines. The dishwasher would fill with water, and then was silent (during the time you'd expect to hear it washing. Cancel/draining worked fine too. I assumed it was the pump/motor that had failed.
