Replaced pump and motor. Read more

Figured it was either the capacitor and/or motor. Ordered both parts to be sure. tried changing the capacitor first; same problem. Replaced the motor (leaving the new capacitor in place). Unit now works fine. Overall an easy fix once you get the washer out and tip it on its side or top to get access to the motor area. Read more

Replaced the control board as it was intermittent. This did not solve the issue, the pump would no longer run at all. Then I replaced the waste pump after the board replacement and this issue was resolved. This in fact fixed the machine. Water had broached the armature shaft seal and allowed the pump to run intermittently for a while after the breach. Happy to have a dishwasher again but not happy that I am the proud owner of two control boards that work now! Oh well. Read more

• Will not drain

I had previously disassemble the pump assembly to find what I at first thought was an oddly shaped spring, which it was. What I learned by researching the parts was that the spring's odd shape was a result of something having gotten caught in the pump and jamming the impeller. After ordering the parts, I watched the "repair video" a few time and proceeded to remove and replaced the affected parts. My dishwasher quit cleaning dishes and lost all pressure. The food screen would keep clogging up and I would have to take it out and clean it by hand. After putting a new impeller in, the "gears" on the impeller connected with the screen blades, the old impeller the "gears" were stripped off. And the new impeller comes with new seals, after taking old one out I noticed it wasn't long before my old seals would have started leaking. Very simple repair if you watch the great video that... Removed and replaced diverter motor. Ops check good, no more leaking. I'm guessing the seal was the problem but diverter ruined (water residue) from leaking over the last 5 years??? This seal is only available if you buy the tub so followed another review - removed diverter then gently pried out the seal, cleaned and then lubed with silicone grease. Also turned the seal 180 degrees or the opposite way before reinstalling the diverter and then wrapping it all back under the counter. Read more

• Not drying dishes properly

The solenoid that opened the air vent for drying was broken so it was open during the wash cycle allowing water to escape into the air duct. Found the part at SearsParts and AppliancePartsPro, and Sears was $15 more expensive. I ordered on Friday from AppliancePartsPro and selected standard shipping and the part arrive the next day (Saturday). Amazing service. AppliancePartsPro will be my first stop in the future. I reviewed the schematic and saw the Volute Seal, and Impeller Seal were the two that were closest my source of water. After watching the video about changing the Impeller/seal I removed the motor, impeller, and volute; I found that the impeller seal was the faulty one in my case. Since I'd ordered the volute and impeller seal kits (as I wasn't sure which it was) I installed both while I had it apart. Runs great, no water - simple to do. The seal changes took about 20 minutes. The machine was displaying an "nd" code, wasn't draining, and would make a grinding noise when the pump ran. After about 30 seconds of the grinding noise, the pump would stop, and the washer would pause the load. Diagnosis was fairly easy: I drained the water out manually at the filter housing.
