Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Water at bottom of dishwasher after a complete cycle   Jeffrey B. • Granite Bay , CA • February 15, 2021

Replaced the control board as it was intermittent. This did not solve the issue, the pump would no longer run at all. Then I replaced the waste pump after the board replacement and this issue was resolved. This in fact fixed the machine. Water had broached the armature shaft seal and allowed the pump to run intermittently for a while after the breach. Happy to have a dishwasher again but not happy that I am the proud owner of two control boards that work now! Oh well. Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Lg washer not draining odd sounding pump noise   Tom K. • Blaine , WA • September 07, 2014

It was fairly obvious that the washer drainer motor had failed, water was not draining, filter was clean (bottom lower left panel door, have a pail ready!) and drain line was not blocked. Someone had provided great advice on the Appliance Parts Pro's site about replacing the drain motor from the bottom. Great suggestion! Easy to do, although be prepared for more water to drain from the washing machine onto the floor after you lay it over. I carefully lowered the machine onto it's back,... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Machine running loud grew worse until it was obvious the motor blew a bearing   Robert S. • Bettendorf , IA • February 21, 2015

We initially noticed the dishwasher running loud and failing to completely clean dishes. Research suggested issues like this were normally caused by either the main circulation motor or the drain motor. Over the next week the noise worsened, and it became obvious that the circulation motor had went (loud whirring noise whenever the spin cycle kicked in). Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Water leaking from the area proximate to the motor   Nathan S. • Salt Lake City , UT • January 19, 2015

I reviewed the schematic and saw the Volute Seal, and Impeller Seal were the two that were closest my source of water. After watching the video about changing the Impeller/seal I removed the motor, impeller, and volute; I found that the impeller seal was the faulty one in my case. Since I'd ordered the volute and impeller seal kits (as I wasn't sure which it was) I installed both while I had it apart. Runs great, no water - simple to do. The seal changes took about 20 minutes. Genuine Whirlpool part
By: Whirlpool
Part Number: W10806701

This replacement part is a dishwasher pump and motor assembly. The dishwasher pump and pump motor circulate water through the dishwasher's spray arm. When the spray arms aren't spraying properly, this could mean that it's time for a new pump and motor assembly. Luckily replacing this part is a relatively simple process.Start by making sure the dishwasher is unplugged. After that shut off the water supply going to the dishwasher. Then disconnect the drain line from the garbage disposal or sink drain. Open the dishwasher door and pull out the bottom dish rack. Remove the upper dishrack from its track. Release the spray arm on the bottom of the washer. Then proceed to release the feed tube clips. Using a nut driver remove the bottom access panel and tow panel. Pull them out to remove them. Remove the power cable from the junction box, and disconnect the supply line from the inlet valve. Proceed to pull the dishwasher out of the counter. Tilt the dishwasher on its side and pull the hose from the drain pump. Remove the wire harness from the pump. Disconnect wires from diverter motor and circulation motor. Once complete, proceed to tilt the dishwasher upright and remove the pump and motor assembly from the bottom of the dishwasher. Replace with the new assembly. This replacement part is compatible with Whirlpool, Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Sears/Kenmore brand dishwashers.

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Whirlpool dishwasher makes loud buzzing noise when the motor/pump runs   Stephen H. • Gainesville , FL • December 14, 2014

Checked the grinder/pump well at the bottom of the dishwasher and fished out some aluminum foil, wire twist ties, broken plastic forks, etc. That was fun but it didn't solve the problem. Purchased new pump & motor assembly and installed it as per Youtube video. It requires pulling out the dishwasher, disconnecting electric, hotwater, and drain lines, and then removing a bunch of clips and connectors.
