The Ice Level Control Board is an OEM part for Whirlpool refrigerators. This board manages the ice maker’s production by monitoring the ice level in the ice bin, ensuring that ice is made when needed and halting production when the bin is full.
Causes of a bad ice level control board can include electrical issues such as power surges, wear and tear over time, or damage from moisture or debris.
Symptoms of a bad ice level control board include:
- The ice maker not producing ice
- Continuous ice production even when the bin is full
- Error codes related to the ice maker
- Irregular or inconsistent ice production
This OEM Whirlpool part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper and some Kenmore models.

Ice maker stopped working Mary K. • Chesapeake Beach , MD • August 06, 2018
Bought new optic control boards, both the emitter and the receiver. The repair process was so simple. The KitchenAid repair tech came out to diagnose our issue. He was only going to come back and install a new emitter. They wanted a lot of money to do the repair. They were going to charge us $257 just for the part (emitter board). We bought both boards for $300 from AppliancePartsPros. We decided to replace both boards, because if one went bad the other might not be far behind.
