The problem was that the motor coupler & shaft had a tiny bit of rust at their union. With the weight of the ice bin it rusted in the lowest position. This didn't allow the motor coupler to float on the shaft. There is a spring inside the shaft that pushes up on the motor coupler keeping it engaged in the ice bin coupler above. The tech sheet test 56 said the motor wouldn't return to zero. I ordered the "Ice Maker Assy-Lp, and the Valve Assy-Water Dual". On my particular model the ice maker is in the ceiling of the refrigerator box. After removing the water filter and two screws around the drop down water filter door, the right side panel drops down by pulling it apart from 3 plastic pop-ins. I wasn't sure if it was the door being warped, the spring return being worn, or the rotary damper failing, so I ordered all to update the door mechanism. I also ordered a new micro switch since one of the switches had started to require more and more pressure to actuate. Figured I'd fix it at the same time. The little piece that holds crisper drawer on broke off. Every time pull drawer out lid fell off. I ordered left side panel. All I had to do was take drawer out unscrew old part take track off old part put on new part and screw back in. Took 5 minutes very cheap easy repair. Read more

Walk into the kitchen on 21 Sep. Eight year old Frigidaire refrigerator appears to be short cycling, controls are nonfunctional. Unplug it for a few minutes, plug it back in, appears to return to normal function. Return to kitchen half hour 45 minutes later it's short cycling again. I removed to the cover to the coil, defrosted coil with a heat gun and checked the heater strip resistance. I set timer to defrost by hand to make sure everything was working. There was damage to the temp control sensor. Both parts were on your web site at a good price, ordering was easy. The parts were in the mail two days later.
