Gotta love the inter-webs and youtube.com I did a couple of searches and some troubleshooting. Everything pointed to the damper assembly and thermo so I ordered them as well as the new versions of the flimsy plastic drawer shelves, while I was working out of state during COVID. The ice dispenser chute door had not been sealing for years. The ice cubes on the lower portion of the ice bin would melt enough eventually to then freeze up into a big, amalgamated blob of ice due to ambient air coming up the chute. I didn't realize I was getting both a refrigerator door handle and a freezer door handle in one set, but now we have the freezer handle if we need it. I ordered the part and soaked the gaskets with warm water in the tub. The old gaskets had a much simpler setup, so no cutting was involved. Left new gasket on the table overnight so it could stretch out. Removed the door. Temporarily replaced it with plastic and tape. Pulled off old gasket. Cleaned surfaces with decreaser and wiped dry with paper towels and alcohol. Inserted new gasket. Replaced door. Read more

I chose to replace both parts so I wouldn't have to go back into the freezer. I used only a screw driver, pliers and the gas lighter to heat the wire connector sleeves. I went on you tube to try and figure out what might be causing this problem. It seemed that the problem was either the temperature thermostat or the defrost timer. I figured that seeing as I had never ever seen any frost in the freezer that the problem probably wasn't the defrost timer. Removed 2 screws from mullion strip heater and slid it up off the tabs at top and bottom. Unhooked the plug and removed it. Verified proper mullion heater and then plugged wiring connection back together, positioned slide clips back in line and slid mullion down onto the clips. Tucked the wiring back into opening positioned cover back in place and reiinstalled the 2 screws.
