Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Squeaky noise and not fully drying   David H. • Santa Clarita , CA • September 20, 2019

Originally the dryer was squeaking a lot, so I purchased a new belt tensioner, but the original tensioner was an old-style no wheel tensioner, so that wasn't the source of the squeaking. I saw a lot of lint had built up inside the unit where there shouldn't have been that much. So I viewed a few videos on the Appliance Pros site and saw that the rear wheel guides were the cause of the squeaking and the rear felt drum and blower housing seal needed to be replaced. The rear blower housing was... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You LG front load washer door gasket needed replacement due to mold buildup   Howard F. • Port Orange , FL • April 15, 2020

If you have an older model WM8000H_A you MUST pay attention to the type of door gasket (boot seal) that it uses. Every video I could find for replacing the seal on the WM8000HWA involved a different product than what was required for our specific washer. I wound up getting the wrong one by ordering it without help and had to exchange it - after I had the machine taken apart. Thanks to AppliancePartsPros I got the correct seal and front retaining ring the next day. NOTE! The retaining rings are... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You The washer would not go into spin mode only partial wash and drain   Karen T. • Dearborn Heights , MI • August 11, 2017

The part is so new no video so I went onto a similar part and watched video that got me about 80%. Then, called and customer service sent me a service Manual but this still was not specific so I broke the old to get it out and in the process figured out how to do it correctly. So I installed the last bit of it which was the bezel through the machine top by myself correctly. So you take the old one out by pushing out to the right from the bottom side using a screw driver for leverage. It will... Read more

Kenmore Suspension
Genuine Whirlpool part
By: Whirlpool
Part Number: W11130359

The Suspension is an OEM part for Whirlpool washing machines. Symptoms of a bad suspension include:

  • Excessive shaking or vibrating during wash cycles
  • Loud banging or thumping noises
  • The washer moving or "walking" during operation
  • The drum appearing to be off-balance or sagging

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You My front loading washing machine would not drain.   Meryl L. • Fort Thomas , AZ • October 26, 2020

So, Saturday, the washer wouldn't drain, yes, I tried the Drain/Spin cycle. So I took the clothes out, rinsed them out twice in the laundry sink and dried them. After a quick Google search, I came to the conclusion that the pump was bad and ordered a pump, $125. Over the course of the next four days, expecting the new pump on Thursday, I baled out the washer, pulled it out from the wall and propped up the front (it's HEAVY), removed the front access panel, removed the drain inlet and outlet... Fix washer overfilling or not filling issues with a water level pressure switch replacement. Common repair for PE error codes. Takes 10-20 minutes to install.

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You LG washing machine would not shut off cold water during rinse cycle   Richard W. • Denton , TX • May 22, 2018

Conducted research on web, and via direct contact with AppliancePros where a diagnosis of replacing the water inlet valve and cleaning the sensor tube would "most probably" (80%) handle the issue. The remaining uncertainty would reside in the electronic board circuitry. The price of replacing the water inlet valve was half of a local repair call just to diagnose the issue so I decided to have faith in the odds presented to me. I watched the Appliance Parts Pro video and saw that it was a job that I could easily do. Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Broken lid switch assembly on washer.   Linda Y. • Salem , OR • November 28, 2018

First, I ordered the wrong part (not paying attention to the model number on my machine...) I installed the part, following the very excellent video instructions from the website. Kenmore Washer Agitator

Part Number: W11550891

Fix a washer that won't agitate or clean clothes properly. This agitator replacement restores wash action. Moderate DIY repair, requires removing bolt.

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Agitator drive failed   W J. • Panama City Beach , FL • February 26, 2023

I had to cut the old agitator out with an oscillating saw in order to access the agitator drive. This is the second Maytag (MVWC 565) I have had to do this to. I first tried removing it by sliding straps under the agitator then then using a jack to pull it loose which did not work either time. One suggestion I have would be to remove debris from tub as you cut in order to prevent it from dropping from the inner tub into the outer tub. Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Washer would fill but then would not agitate or spin there was a burning rubber smell   Karen G. • Katonah , NY • November 28, 2014

All's well that ends well, but the getting there was a bit of a pain. The web site suggests 3 possible causes for my problem (incl. the burning smell). I began with the first two since they were inexpensive compared to the motor, which was the third cause (and also the least often cause). There is no way to visibly tell if the motor is bad or not. After replacing the clutch assembly, which did have some plastic pins broken off) and the motor coupling (which actually looked fine, but the... Read more
