Kitchenaid Dishwasher Parts

After looking for solutions online and watching some short videos, we decided to open the dishwasher up and try to fix it ourselves. We opened it up and found the circuit board had burned out causing a horrible odor. We ordered our new board, popped it in and we now have a working dishwasher. Hooray! Read more

We initially noticed the dishwasher running loud and failing to completely clean dishes. Research suggested issues like this were normally caused by either the main circulation motor or the drain motor. Over the next week the noise worsened, and it became obvious that the circulation motor had went (loud whirring noise whenever the spin cycle kicked in). Removed the bottom rack from the dishwasher. Removed the 2 front plates at bottom of the dishwasher. Removed the two screws from the top of the dishwasher holding the dishwasher to the counter-top. Pulled the dishwasher out. Removed the 8 mm screws from the outside of the dishwasher-- 4 per side (Underneath the sound proofing). Unplug the unit from power. Remove decorative aluminum band from motor enclosure by removing single screw at rear of mixer. Remove screws (now exposed) which secure the top half of the motor enclosure. Using a 1/8" punch, tap-out the pin that penetrates the planetary gear cover and the motor shaft (takes some finesse to avoid damage to the painted/coated planetary. It is a tight fit!) I checked the drain hose for blocking at the garbage disposal and then at the connection point to the dishwasher. The hose was clear and nothing was obviously obstructing where the drain hose connects to the dishwasher.
