A spark electrode was cracked; the ignition switches for some burners had failed; and rubber grate pads were destroyed or missing Wayne K. • Redmond , WA • September 26, 2018
Of course, before disassembling anything, I unplugged and turned off the gas supply.
To replace the spark electrode, I removed the drip pan/surface to gain access to the burner assemblies. Next, I unscrewed (with a 1/2" open-end wrench, I think) and disconnected the gas supply tubing from the burner assembly with the cracked electrode, and then unscrewed the assembly itself from the base surface. With the assembly detached, I flipped it over and removed the screw that secured the cracked...

Stove top ignitors not working Daniel M. • Gilroy , CA • November 24, 2015
I removed the burners and replaced the igniters. The burners must be removed because the igniters go underneath them.
This job turned out to be very difficult because my stove is 16 years old and the screws holding down the igniters were completely rusted and bound to the stove top, so I had to drill out all of the screws. Also, the burners were bound to the gas flues by mineral deposits and separating them was very difficult.
Once I got the stove top up, I threaded the igniter wires to the...

Part Number: 00612817
The Ignition Device is an OEM part for Bosch gas cooktops. This ignitor is responsible for sparking the burners to safely ignite the gas flow and initiate the cooking process.
The ignition device works through a high-voltage electrical arc that produces a spark near each gas burner valve whenever a cooktop burner is turned on. This spark reliably ignites the gas, allowing full and consistent burner flame.
Causes of a bad ignition device can include defects in the electronic components, wear and tear of the electrode tips over time, or issues preventing a strong enough spark from occurring.
Symptoms of a bad ignition device include:
- Burners that will not light or remain lit
- Repeated lighting attempts required before a flame is produced
- Inconsistent or intermittent ignition between burners
- Burners that light but then extinguish unexpectedly
This OEM Bosch part is also compatible with Thermador, Gaggenau, and some Kenmore models.

The Electrode is an OEM component specifically designed for select Bosch gas range models featuring a pilot ignition system. Located near the gas valve, it initiates sparking to reliably light burners on demand. Consistent placement ensures safe and dependable burner ignition.
Symptoms of a faulty electrode commonly involve failure to produce sparks stopping burners from lighting properly. Regular flareups increase electrode wear warranting timely replacement.
Causes of a bad electrode include normal arc erosion reducing spark output. Deposits inhibiting consistent contact necessitate cleaning or a component change.
Causes of a bad electrode can involve:
- Burners lighting sporadically or requiring multiple ignitions
- Pilot lights repeatedly going out between uses
- Inability to ignite burners for cooking
This OEM Bosch part is also compatible with some Dacor, Thermador, and Blomberg gas ranges.
