I ordered the part and soaked the gaskets with warm water in the tub. The old gaskets had a much simpler setup, so no cutting was involved. Ordered new tube part AJR56656503 for Lg LFX25978ST/01 watched a lot of videos but none showed how to remove the door tube end from its connection so I just cut and spliced the new tube to the old under the cover for the door hinge area after feeding it from the back of frig to that area. Replaced plastic housing for $100. Recommend buying the whole assembly though. Cost a bit more but you would be done in 15min. When you just replace the housing, you have to disassemble the old one very carefully to reuse several parts that do not come with the housing. A lot of fragile plastics. Plus, make sure you have GooGone and 3M thin tape handy; you will absolutely need it. Again, buy the whole assembly and save time and headache. Read more

Unplug refrigerator. Use non marring (plastic trim stick) tool to gently pry loose the plastic assembly containing the PCB display beginning at the lower edge and proceeding around the outer edge. The amount of water being dispensed into the ice cube tray was excessive, causing overflow of the tray. The water then ran into the collection bin and even down the side walls of the freezer creating a huge block of ice in the bin, and ice all over the lower shelves as well. The excessive build up of ice caused the cube tray to crack and also split the little silicone water grommet that connects to the water delivery tube which directs water into the cube tray. The problem was that the motor coupler & shaft had a tiny bit of rust at their union. With the weight of the ice bin it rusted in the lowest position. This didn't allow the motor coupler to float on the shaft. There is a spring inside the shaft that pushes up on the motor coupler keeping it engaged in the ice bin coupler above. The repair itself is pretty basic, remove broken parts and replace with new, but the process is much more challenging on the freezer door than on the fridge side since the water lines are routed through the hinge. Left new gasket on the table overnight so it could stretch out. Removed the door. Temporarily replaced it with plastic and tape. Pulled off old gasket. Cleaned surfaces with decreaser and wiped dry with paper towels and alcohol. Inserted new gasket. Replaced door. Read more
