I went on line and read your advice page. Based on that, I removed the damper assembly (six screws counting the miserable light fixture) and found the damper door broken as predicted. I went back to your page and ordered the new part. Nice breakdown to get number. After that, I disassembled the damper assembly, found that the ABS plastic damper had broken from the actuator probably as a result of fatigue from cycling back and forth for twelve years. First I replaced the filter thinking it was the problem, but that was not the case. Next was replace water supply valve at the back of the refrigerator. It was very easy. The only thing that was in question was how to get the refrigerator side line off of the existing valve. There is a plastic slide clip that you remove and pull the line out and press the line back into the port it came out of. It was a very simple project and took about 20 minutes. Read more

Purchased both the ice maker assembly and the valve assembly to replace the parts as needed. replaced the ice maker assembly first, and this fixed my problem. Took about 10 minutes, mainly because I didn't watch the YouTube video first. Had I watched that, it would have probably taken even less time. One Philips head screw driver is all you need.
