Replaced both primary and secondary water valves to make sure I fixed the problem. Both valves have to open when you function the water dispenser and when the ice maker tray needs refilling. YouTube video was a great help and let me know that I had to lengthen one hose. The video showed me the exact parts I needed to lengthen the hose. YouTube video also let me know that I had needed to transfer the internal springs in the hoses when I cut the old connections off. Never would have known... Read more

After reading some other reviews that were having a similar problem I ordered a water valve that is located in the lower rear of the refer. The change out took less that ten minutes and was similar to the video. The ice maker now is making ice and seems to be working properly. The repair was made easy with the help of Appliancepartspros. We have a built-in KitchenAid KSSC42QKS02. Unlike the other Kitchenaid or Whirlpool refrigerators, our valve is located at the bottom and towards the front of the refrigerator. I actually preferred it to be located at the back like the others. It would've been easier to get to. We had to lower the fridge turning the screws(front of the lower panel), so it would sit on the rollers. First, I had to remove the cover plate on the back of the refrigerator. Then I unscrewed the water inlet valve from the rest of the assembly. I then unplugged the electrical contacts by pulling them apart. There are two fittings on the valve. One has a nut on it. That one just needs the nut unscrewed, after which the pex tubing can be pulled out. The other one has a pex connection. I ordered a new solenoid and when it arrived, I installed it as follows: I cut the power to the refrigerator. I then pulled off the rubber boot (and it's plastic frame) that covers the water switch. Then I removed the bezel that covers the front of the ice maker controls by pulling it straight out. Then I removed the four screws found on the assembly under the bezel.
