Whirlpool Axle, Roller, Pulley Parts

I pulled the unit away from the wall and noticed black dust on the floor. Unplugged the unit, turned off the water. Removed back panel (about 10 screws with Torx heads) and noticed the belt was off, the drive pulley was loose and wobbling on the shaft, black dust all over the inside. Belt was worn along one side. The multiple YouTube videos available made it a pretty straight forward step-by-step repair. Not all parts were in stock. They each shipped separately, but I got them all within a 2 week period. Process went pretty smoothly. However, when I first was diagnosing, I took the motor brushes out to check their wear, and did not put them back in until I had all the gears replaced and the mixer back together. Bought a new shaft and replaced the original shaft. I tried soaking the original shaft with the dough tool stuck on in boiling water and vinegar, but no luck. Dough was like cement. Dough was already hardened like cement, so the hot water didn't change the chemistry at this point. Read more

This was a problem that I'd had previously with this mixer. The worm gear, which is designed to fail (so that more serious damage does not occur to the motor), did fail while I was mixing some multi-grain bread dough. Removed the old planetary and cleaned metal shavings from gears. Transferred the old axle/gear assembly onto the new planetary. Inserted the new (and expensive) screw for the main gear and torqued it very tight (as well as the original other four screws). Slid the new planetary gears together and re-inserted the holding pin. I got the new hose with connection at faucet in only 2 days after ordering. After taking the top and sides off if the dishwasher it only took 10 minutes to replace the hose. It actually took longer to disassemble and reassemble the top and sides but even that was easy. 45 minutes total. Just use your cell phone to take a picture of how the old hose is routed before installing the new one and have 2 small zip ties to keep loose wires away from hose. Read more
