Fix a refrigerator water or ice dispenser that won't activate or keeps running continuously. This micro switch controls dispenser operation. DIY-friendly.
I watched the Appliance Parts Pros repair video and decided to remove the front panel to diagnose the problem. While the repair video is excellent, I could not remove the ice/water dispenser front panel with a putty knife. On my model, 106.56234400, there is no clip that can be released by sliding a putty knife up under the front panel. It took a little effort but I was able to pop the left lower corner clip just by pulling it out with my fingers. Once the cover was off I could see that the... Read more
Dryer won't start or runs with door open? This door switch assembly detects when the door is closed. Easy 10-15 minute repair with step-by-step video.
Background: Roper Electric Dryer model REX6634RQ0 purchased new in early 2006 by my wife. Dryer use profile is low to moderate as it was used by only one person (working from home) from 2006 to late 2007 then moved and stored in a dry basement until mid 2009. Moved and used by primarily just two people (plus occasional children visits) from mid-2009 thru late 2011 with three moves involved with in that time. Then stored in a dry shipping container until moved again in 2013. The multiple... Read more
Dryer won't start or runs with door open? This door switch kit restores safety shutdown function. Simple clip-in repair takes 15-30 minutes. Video included.
The timer knob simply pulls off the shaft with a solid, steady pull. Cleaned the timer cavity of lint/dust buildup. Aligned the keying flat of the shaft and knob and pushed the new knob on with careful, steady pressure until it was obviously seated. No tools required other than a vacuum. The door switch would sometimes not shut the dryer off when the door was opened. New switch came with new fast-on connectors. Replacement required opening the top cover of the dryer and hinging it up. This... Read more

Burner stuck on high or won't heat? This infinite heat switch kit controls surface element temperature. Most DIYers complete in under 30 minutes.
I replaced all 3 remaining burner controls because they were all original (mid 1970s GE electric range w/coil burners), and one of the controls occasionally made arcing sounds when cycling the burner on and off. If a control is making odd noises - more than just a quiet metallic clicking as it cycles - it should be replaced. I'm assuming you have experience with the tools needed and can do simple mechanical assembly or disassembly, but have not previously worked with electrical equipment of... Read more

Microwave won't start or shows door error? A faulty door switch prevents operation when the door isn't detected as closed. DIY repair in under an hour.
After checking other reviews, we decided it was best to replace the interlocks, cam and all three switches. You're going to need a phillips screwdriver, star driver, small screwdriver and needle nose pliers. You need to remove the ONE Phillips screw above the control panel inside the vent. The contol panel is on hinges that you can slide up and towards you. Using caution remove the wires noting how they're connected. Pinch the top of the white connectors and wiggle them free. Prior to ordering parts I had pulled the pump strainer basket and cleaned it out. There was both soft and hard scale build up. The tub-to-pump hose was also pretty crusty/slimey. Still got warnings for SUDS and repeated F02 errors. Ordered parts and replaced the pump, tub-to-pump hose, interior drain hose and exterior drain hose (both hoses has some slime build up). The water standing in the tub when I emptied it the first time had very little suds but we kept getting the SUDS warning. ... Read more

Dishwasher won't start or lights flash? The door switch signals the control board when closed. Easy DIY fix with video guide. Restore operation.
This was a difficult problem to diagnose. Because the machine would start the wash cycle then shut down after a few minutes of running, it appeared that the cause might be a bad thermostat or heating element, but all checked out ok. That led me to believe that the control panel may be the culprit but it also appeared to be working correctly when I ran the diagnostics program. A visual examination of the components found that the door switch electrical connections looked discolored, so I removed... Read more
