Fix a washer that won't start when the lid is closed with this lid switch plunger. Simple DIY repair—just remove two screws and realign. Video included.

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Lid switch was not turning on, washer filled but didn't wash spin etc   George J. • Hopewell , IL • March 02, 2020

I replaced the switch, the plunger, plunger guide and the lid cam, but the cam still didn't turn on the switch. Turned out someone had stood on the washer and bent the lid slightly, not enough to notice, but since I had ruled out just about everything else I started looking at the lid itself. I ended up bending it back close to it's original shape and now it works fine. I guess I learned a few things about washing machines though. One lesson is when you pull off the controls, the hose leading... Read more

Replaced the defrost timer. It was not located where the parts explode suggested in the thermostat control box which is located in the upper right corner of the liner. It was in fact outside the freezer compartment on the back lower left support (when looking at the back of the freezer). It is secured with 2 sheet metal screws with a 1/4 hex head. Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Erratic/warm temps sometimes worked fine but not reliably   Jennifer C. • Plainville , MA • June 15, 2015

My fridge was often reaching 60-70 degrees but would work well when motor/fans were running; it just wasn't cooling regularly. I checked the coils, defrost, damper, and fans, and they all seemed to work, so that only left the cold control in terms of what I was willing to try to fix. (It wasn't worth messing with the compressor as the fridge is 12 yrs old.) The fridge would sometimes kick on when I tapped the cold control knob so it was a reasonable - and, it turns out, correct - guess. I... Read more

Motor shaft was stripped, replaced with new shaft from Motor Seal Kit. Impeller was also cracked, so replaced it as well. I did run in to a small problem, the chopper blade was pressing against the metal grate on the piece that goes back over the motor seal. I spent about an hour messing with it, but thought maybe once it's all together it'll be fine. When you screw the impeller on, it pushes down the seals, which pushes down the chopper blade.
