Had to replace the switch for the left rear burner on a Whirlpool cooktop Model W5CE3625AB00. I turned off the circuit breaker for the cooktop and lifted it out of the countertop. It was simply held down by its own weight. There were approximately a dozen screws holding the smooth surface down onto the rest of the unit. Second repair after 10 years of service - igniter had cracked and spill overs were causing the others to misfire. This was a two-step process. I took apart the cooktop to see what parts were neded. My stove is probably 15 years old and when I was removing the screws that hold the burner in place on top of the stove top, both of them broke off so I had to replace the entire assembly. I bought the replacement knobs from Appliance Parts Pros.com and they were much better knobs that what originally came with the unit. They are actually metal and the plastic posts that connect with the range are a much higher grade plastic. To be honest I think the stove works better than it did when it was new.
