I watched the video on replacing the switch on a side freezer where prying out to original switch did not look difficult. I then got on the floor and tried to pry out my switch. Had a terrible time (locking tab or switch body hardened with time?) and mangled the switch terribly and the upper panel of the freezer somewhat, but the switch did come out. I believe we had two problems. Our gasket was ripped in several places and our drain pan line was clogged. Therefore the water was frozen and backing up into the freezer. Replacing the gasket is an easy job and could possibly be done quickly enough that you don’t have to remove your freezer food items if you don’t discover additional problems during the process. When our 8 year old dishwasher started acting up my initial reaction was to simply replace it. Originally the dryer was squeaking a lot, so I purchased a new belt tensioner, but the original tensioner was an old-style no wheel tensioner, so that wasn't the source of the squeaking. I saw a lot of lint had built up inside the unit where there shouldn't have been that much. So, Saturday, the washer wouldn't drain, yes, I tried the Drain/Spin cycle. So I took the clothes out, rinsed them out twice in the laundry sink and dried them. I first felt along each heating element (bake and broil) hoping to find a rough or blistered place on them. But they were both smooth with no irregular places. (replacing the elements would have been the easiest and cheapest repair. Pulled the back off the range (unplugged, of course) - checked wiring. There were no loose connections or burned wiring. The dryer is a Kenmore Laundry Center, model 417-99570150. Bought in 1998, so it is an older model. Not wanting to buy the newer ones that are out now. We opted to fix the Kenmore. Just believe the older models are worth fixing, if at all possible. Frist we had to figure out what parts we would need and if the cost would be worth our time. I'm such a pro, I figured I needed a new hose for my water dispenser so I ordered it. When it arrived I called my handyman. He told me I did not need a hose I needed A cartridge.
