After watching the how to video twice I decided to embark on dismantling my dryer and attempting to replace my motor. After realizing that the main tool needed was a Phillips screwdriver I was sure I could handle this repair. One by one I took apart the dryer and spread out the parts throughout my mud room. 1.5 hrs later and I have a working dryer, and most of all a happy wife. Ordered conversion kit from Appliance Parts Pros.com and installed it myself. Most difficult part of the repair, was the removal of the front casing of the dryer to access the location of venturi tube to be changed out. The instructions were helpful, but not specific enough for my dryer. The very easy diagnosis was motor seizure. Because the machine is about a decade old, I decided to renovate most of the guts. My DIY project included replacing the motor, blower, drum bearing, belt, and door hinge. The end result is a functional dryer with no left-over parts. • Door won't close

I chatted with a rep on Appliance Parts Pros and found out which parts I needed for my model of dryer. Ordered the 2 clips that held the door closed. They arrived the next day!! My dryer was very different than the video but we were able to figure out which screws to remove. The old clips popped out and the new ones popped in. Took about 30 minutes because of there being a top and bottom clip to remove and replace and line up the door parts to screw the screws back in. It works great!! I... Read more

I just wanted to put my experience here for all to see. I have a Maytag Neptune, MAH5500BWW, one of the original ones. I bought it back in 2002 and it has done many many loads of wash faithfully. So when the bearings started to get loud I thought it best to replace them, the seal kit and the belt. I did my research as best I could and decided to order the OEM parts from an appliance supplier. I found a few videos on YouTube about other dryers that gave me enough information to figure out my own. I was able to pull out the heater element and replace it with a new one that arrived the day after I purchased it. I also replaced the thermal fuse and thermostat. Read more
