Gas Valve Assembly
Genuine Whirlpool part
By: Whirlpool
Part Number: 280119

This genuine OEM replacement part is a burner and gas valve assembly for dryers. The burner and gas valve assembly is a complete assembly that contains the burner that distributes the gas in a way that creates an even flame allowing for heat to be distributed properly to perform the dryer's essential function. If the dryer is no longer drying clothes effectively or heating properly, then it might be time for it to be replaced. Luckily repairing a gas valve assembly is a relatively simple job.To replace the burner and gas valve assembly, begin by shutting off power to the appliance. Next, pull the dryer away from the wall to gain access to the back panel. Remove the back panel and locate the burner and gas valve assembly. Remove the mounting screws that hold it in place. After removing the screws use both hands to pull and release the old burner assembly. Set it off to the side and proceed to install the new one by refastening the screws that hold it in place. This replacement part is compatible with Whirlpool, Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Sears/Kenmore brand washers.

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Weak or no burner flame   Michael T. • North Reading , MA • November 16, 2018

Unfortunately my first repair attempt (replacing the Gas Valve Coils) failed so I decided to replace the entire Burner assembly. From a cost/time point of view the Burner assembly is a better value than just buying the Gas Valve seeing as you don't have to disassemble/reassemble most of the existing Burner (to get to the Gas Valve) *and* you get a new Igniter!! The most annoying thing about the repair is accessing the screw that clamps the gas pipe to loosen it :-(... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Broken clothes dryer drive belt   Paul S. • Chicago , IL • May 10, 2016

I replaced the drive belt using the video instructions on your web site. My dryer is in a stacked configuration, inverted with respect to your instructions with the motor above the drum instead of below it. During reassembly the drum got stuck when the pivot did not seat properly in its socket so the front couldn't be reassembled until I lifted the drum to reseat its pivot so the drum could move back into position allowing the front to be reassembled. The hight of the drum in the stacked... Read more

I have a Bosch nexxt 500 series dryer that stopped heating. It was still running fine, just no heat. I did some research and found the Limiter as the possible problem. I pushed the red reset button. Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Dryer not heating   Ray M. • Marissa , IL • October 03, 2014

I removed the kick panel/door and confirmed there was no flame. Inspection with a flashlight revealed the igniter was damage - partly broken away. Using a 1/4" socket set I removed the burner assembly. Inspection showed the burner was rusted and the flame deflector had fallen off. I ordered both the "Dryer Igniter and Bracket" and a burner. Dryer Thermostat

Dryer not heating or shuts off after a few minutes? A faulty thermostat often causes temperature regulation failure. Easy DIY fix with a multimeter test.

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Whirlpool Thin Twin mod LTE5243DZ2 dryer ran but was not creating heat   David G. • York Springs , PA • July 17, 2019

I checked the continuity on the thermal fuse (which was blown) and knew that it needed to be replaced. This made me question why it blew (i.e. what caused it to fail). I checked continuity on the thermostat (high limit) as well as the thermostat for the element. Both passed a continuity test, so I removed the high limit thermostat to inspect it and could hear it rattling inside. This leads me to believe the spring inside had failed, so I replaced this thermostat as well. Put it back... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Deep freezer was tripping gfci outlet every day   Bryan K. • Aubrey , TX • November 29, 2014

I determined that it was a problem that occurred during the defrost cycle by resetting the GFCI outlet and forwarding the defrost timer until the defroster came on. Once the defrosting began, the GFCI outlet would reliably trip. I took apart the shielding inside of the freezer and tested the defrosting without the heating element or the thermostat connected. Since that looked good, I tested for proper functionality of the thermostat by removing it, placing it in a working freezer, and checking... Read more
