Hi-Limit Thermostat Assembly
Genuine Lg part
By: Lg
Part Number: 6931EL3001F

The Hi Limit Thermostat Assembly is an OEM part for LG dryers. This thermostat monitors and regulates the temperature within the dryer to prevent overheating, ensuring safe and efficient operation. It acts as a safety device that shuts off the heating element if the dryer exceeds a certain temperature, protecting the appliance and your home from potential fire hazards.

Over time, the hi limit thermostat can fail due to wear and tear, electrical issues, or repeated exposure to high temperatures. If the thermostat becomes faulty, it can lead to improper temperature regulation within the dryer.

Symptoms of a bad hi limit thermostat include:

  • The dryer overheating
  • The dryer not heating at all
  • The dryer shutting off mid-cycle
  • Extended drying times due to inconsistent heating

This OEM LG part is also compatible with Sears/Kenmore models.

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Lg dryer no heat   Jeffrey J. • Emerald Isle , NC • June 06, 2016

Checked and cleaned vent which was in need of cleaning, but not too bad (I do not consider this a primary causal detail, but can be a problem, so clean yours). Replaced Hi-Limit Thermostat (safety thermostat) after confirming the circuit was open with ohm meter. While I was in there, I completely cleaned the heater and ducting and internal workings of the dryer. Confirmed the heater coils were good via 20ohm, 20ohm, 40ohm readings (LG service manual has wrong readings). Two weeks later, same... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Drum stopped turning loud 60 hz hum from motor   James S. • Winchester , TN • November 03, 2018

The very easy diagnosis was motor seizure. Because the machine is about a decade old, I decided to renovate most of the guts. My DIY project included replacing the motor, blower, drum bearing, belt, and door hinge. The end result is a functional dryer with no left-over parts. Lack of parts and hardware challenged the effort. For example, the blower assembly did not have the slide capture for the motor. I had to use the old one which is showing its age. Being a complete DIY I hate to call some unknown person into my home knowing that just to get them there will cost me more than I will spend for parts that I don't need. After all, they are trying to make a living and by selling me parts that I don't need will increase their profits. Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Dryer would not turn on   Kathie R. • Burlington , WI • January 15, 2016

The dryer is a Kenmore Laundry Center, model 417-99570150. Bought in 1998, so it is an older model. Not wanting to buy the newer ones that are out now. We opted to fix the Kenmore. Just believe the older models are worth fixing, if at all possible. Frist we had to figure out what parts we would need and if the cost would be worth our time. I went on YouTube: and type in Kenmore dryer not turning on. Watched several videos to narrow down the possible problem. Next step was to... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Motor would not start when start button pressed for one second lights up and hear motor solenoid click but no start   Anthony Y. • Kaneohe , HI • October 11, 2014

Checked thermal fuse, belt pulley switch, door switch, and motor windings (primary 2.3 ohms start 2,2 ohms). Called Appliance Pros, told them my problem. They said that it appears to be the motor even though the ohm readings seam Ok and that I could return the motor if it was not the problem. I ordred the motor and blower wheel. Installed the new motor and everything worked! The only difficult part was that the motor blower had to be chiseled out. Their motor repair video was a great help. Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Lg dryer making loud noises   Michael B. • Dublin , OH • January 07, 2017

From reading "troubleshooting" sites on the internet, originally thought I'd be replacing the front & rear drum rollers, so I ordered the rollers, and a new belt before I opened up the dryer, taking it out of use. Interlock Switch
Genuine Ge part
By: Ge
Part Number: WD21X10261

The Interlock Switch is an OEM replacement part for GE electric and gas dryers. This safety component monitors the door closure, preventing operation if the door is not securely closed and latched. The switch measures 2 inches long and 1/2 inch wide.

Symptoms of a faulty interlock switch include:

  • Dryer failing to start or running with the door open
  • Timer display not illuminated when start button is pressed
  • Inability to open the dryer door during operation
  • Dryer suddenly stopping mid-cycle before fully drying clothes

Causes relate to the internal component contacting the door frame over 50,000 open/close cycles potentially exposing wiring to wear. Regular cleaning the external switch area prevents dust or lint buildup skewing performance.

This genuine GE switch is compatible with Hotpoint and RCA dryers as well.

Note: Can be used as a dishwasher door switch on specific models. Check your model number for the most accurate results.

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Melted door switch.   Christopher K. • Greeneville , TN • February 03, 2024

The full story: Dishwasher stopped running mid-cycle. When I first began troubleshooting I tried manually advancing the timer knob, and the machine would run. That led me to believe that the actual timer assembly was bad, so I replaced it. The dishwasher ran fine for a day, and then the same problem came back. This time, however, I also had to push in on the door to get it to run. I looked around online, and someone suggested that the door latch wasn't closing tightly enough. I adjusted the... Read more
