Regulates current to a single electric surface element so you can vary burner heat smoothly from low to high
Replaces a switch that causes burners to be stuck on one setting, not heat properly, or not respond to knob adjustments
Maintains proper connection between the control knob and the cooktop element
Works with standard mechanical knob-style cooktop controls

Install notes:

Disconnect power at the breaker before accessing the cooktop; electric shock hazard if not powered off
Access usually requires removing the cooktop or control panel—support for the top while removing screws is recommended
