I replaced all 3 remaining burner controls because they were all original (mid 1970s GE electric range w/coil burners), and one of the controls occasionally made arcing sounds when cycling the burner on and off. If a control is making odd noises - more than just a quiet metallic clicking as it cycles - it should be replaced. I'm assuming you have experience with the tools needed and can do simple mechanical assembly or disassembly, but have not previously worked with electrical equipment of... Read more
Burner won't heat or stays on constantly? The infinite control switch regulates burner temperature. Simple DIY fix with basic tools in under 30 minutes.
My cooktop repair was a total success from start to finish. I reviewed and later followed the APP repair video, which helped me decide if I wanted to tackle the repairs and guided me right before I started. The APP phone staff member was very helpful verifying the parts I had identified online using the model number of my older GE Profile cooktop to locate and view the correct online exploded view diagram. I told him it was a pleasure working with him. The parts arrived within 3 days of... Read more

Downdraft fan not working? This fan switch activates the ventilation system. Moderately difficult repair—requires lifting cooktop to access mounting plate.
I had to take the control board off the bottom of the cooktop and replace the fan switch. The post that fits into the hand switch had broken off. The new switch cost about $35, it was an exact replacement and the whole repair took less than an hour. My wife is very happy because now she can again use the downdraft fan on the cooktop. Burner stays on high or won't turn off completely? This infinite control switch regulates surface burner heat. Simple 10-minute DIY fix with video guide.
I first checked a repair video and found the procedure was a 10 minute job. I then went to the website, put in my stove model number and searched for the switch. While I was looking I was offered a chat session with one of their experts. I am glad that I accepted. The switch I was looking at was not the right switch for the job. My expert verified my model number and the switch that need to be replaced. After a couple of minutes, she came back with the right part and placed the order for... Read more
Burner stuck on high or can't regulate heat? This infinite switch controls cooktop element temperature. DIY-friendly repair in under an hour.
Ordered the element control for my dual front right burner and a infinite heat switch for my left front large single burner. Removed cooktop and followed the instructions video given with the parts online. Process was simple and everything on my cooktop is working like it is brand new. The only problem I have is with the online chat, save time by calling in and talking to someone as the people I talked to online (4 of them) are in such a hurry to get to the next call they gave conflicting part... If your cooktop burner is stuck on high or won't adjust temperature, the infinite control switch likely failed. This part controls heat levels.
The parts are under the stovetop and the knobs are attached to them. We bought the correct ones from AppliancePartsPros, these were the correct ones. Seems we have an oddball stovetop. It's a GE drop in stove. The parts were easy to change. It was a simple matter of putting the wires on the new switch in the same place there were on the switch. I took phone pics of the wire locations before I took them off and only did one switch at a time. Turn the power off at the breaker panel first of... Read more

This 3-speed blower switch controls the exhaust fan in your range hood, allowing you to select low, medium, or high airflow. Replacing a worn switch can restore dependable ventilation and proper speed control. What it does:
We ordered the parts and watched the help videos. It was "almost" exact in telling us what we needed to go. Our cooktop is 16 years old and had a ton of greasy buildup that had slowly gotten down into the knobs and was a sticky mess to undo. However the parts fit perfectly, and after 2 hours of careful "home engineering" we made it happen and everything works aweome now. My dad then decided to dissect the older switches, and proclaimed that we probably could have cleaned the connecters... Read more
