This mechanical timer controls and advances cooking/wash/dry cycles so your appliance runs through its programmed steps. Replaces a failed or intermittent timer to restore normal cycle selection and timing control. What it does:
This OEM replacement part is the main control board for dryers. The main control board is the part that controls the functions of a dryer. It is the main component that sends signals to the dryer to perform its intended functions, controlling the desired dryer settings. If the dryer is no longer turning on, spinning properly, or effectively drying, it might be time to replace the main control board. While it might seem difficult to replace this part, it's actually a simple process. First, pull the dryer forward to access the back panel. Remove the upper back panel. Push the front of the control panel and pry it up with a putty knife removing it from the mounting brackets. Disconnect any wires attached to the old control board and be sure to take note of which wires go where by taking a photo with a phone camera. Then disconnect the air hose. Remove the mounting screws from the control board. Release the locking tabs and pull the control board out of the console. Position the new board in place and pop it into the locking tabs. Reconnect the air hose to the back of the control panel, and reconnect the wires into the back of the new control board. This genuine control board is compatible with General Electric, Hotpoint, RCA, and Sears/Kenmore brand dryers.

Ordered new timer. Unplugged dryer. Gently pulled off the front knob. Removed the 6 screws to remove the back panel. Why does one need 6 screws to attach the back top panel? Then it was a matter of lifting out the old timer, removing the electrical connections from old timer and placing them on the new timer in the same place, and placing the new timer where the old one was. Replaced the back panel with the same 6 screws, replaced the knob on the front, and it was done. Easy. Removing and... Read more
