Ian M Lynden , WA February 25, 2017 Appliance: Model GE PROFILE PFSF6KXEBB No water from dispenser ice maker ok frozen water reservoir Found water reservoir had frozen solid and had cracked (no idea yet why it froze). I had previously fixed a frozen drain from the cooler by wrapping 12 Ga bare copper wire around the heater element and routing into the drain hole and that was working and clear. So I ordered and replaced both water reservoir and water reservoir heater in case the heater was not working fully. Very Easy to fix by removing vegetable drawer and shelves. Only tool was a Philips screwdriver. I did NOT replace hoses to valve or outlet. I removed the hoses from the new assembly and connected the new assembly to the old hoses. To remove hoses, pull the blue tab, depress grey lock while pulling on hose. When you put the hoses in, be sure to replace the blue tabs. Please note, the routing of the hoses matters so mark which one goes to the bottom and which is the top before removing the old reservoir. Trickiest part was to lay out the hoses while putting the new heater over them. Suggest taking a picture before removing old reservoir so you know exactly what the hose routing is and getting the inlet and outlet hoses correctly installed. Less than 10 minutes and it works great! Just like new. Read More... 13 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: Less than 15 minutes Tools: Screwdrivers

Fred P Saint Augustine , FL December 18, 2021 Appliance: Model GE GFSS6KKYASS GE refrigerator water tank and heater replacement. I discovered this GE Refrigerator is made by Samsung, and while I had a harder time finding a video for the GE, this is almost identical. (The GE is actually a bit easier changing the connection at the back of the refrigerator. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hQJoXCwV68E This is a great video. Some had mentioned using existing tubing to save time but I decided to change it all. I had some difficultly threading the tubing to the bottom and almost regretted not taking the easier way, but I finally was able to get it. On model number below, there are some that differ just a bit in last letters but are virtually identical. Read More...
