I first tried to purchase the part directly from GE but they were not helpful at all. This is the upper heating element located at the top of the oven cavity that provides high, direct heat for broiling. It glows red-hot to sear and brown food placed on the top rack. The delivery of the element was superfast, less than 24 hrs. Unplug the Stove from the receptical! Took a phippips screwdriver and took out the 2 screws holding it, and tilted it upwards a bit and pulled the element out about 3 inches an unhooked the wires. Hooked the wires up to the new element and pushed it back into the holes and put the 2 screws back in and turned the stove on and that was all there was to that. Read more

Went to YouTube for pictorial on the repair. Found it to be an easy replacement. Made a wiring chart, followed the reverse order of wiring. Installed part checked that part floated on its spring mounts and did not touch anything. Checked my wiring a second time agents my chart-making shore all spade connections were tight. lowered and secured top turned power back on and tested part.. Part functions correctly. Read more

It's was easy to replace. Unplugged the oven from the wall, unscrew the two screws that hold the element to the back of the oven and pulled it away from the oven. Then just pull off the two wires at the end of the bake element. Install the new one in the revers order, easy. Read more

It was a good video which showed everything involved and then easily showed me the parts list of the elements involved and how to fix it.
