Oven won't broil or heats unevenly from the top? The broil element provides heat for broiling. Easy DIY repair, typically takes under 30 minutes.
The upper element in the top oven burned out. This was likely due to sugary food that had gotten on the element when the food was moved in/out of the element. The element was coated in crusty, burned food and the element was cracked in six or so places. The oven is a Maytag Gemini double oven range. The model number appears to be MER6875AAQ based on our receipt and manual. We did not pull out the oven since it is difficult to do so in our kitchen. Taking out the old element only... Read more

Dryer not heating or blowing cold air? The heating element converts electrical energy to heat for drying. Most DIYers complete this repair in 45-60 minutes.
The heating element had a break in the heater coils, so I replaced it with a new one from Appliance Parts Pros. I also replaced the thermal fusible link and thermostat switch because they were so cheap it just made sense to go ahead and do it while I was in there. I also cleaned every nook & cranny in the dryer, then cleaned out the vent piping- which was about 100% clogged. The video's of how to tear down a dryer were indispensable to this repair - along with APP's always having the right... Read more
Oven not reaching temperature or taking too long to preheat? A failed bake element is often the cause. Moderate DIY repair, 1-2 hours with rear access.
I determined the hidden bake element below the oven cavity was not working, because the bottom of the oven was cold during normal use. If you have a built-in microwave + oven combination (mine is KitchenAid Model No. KEMS308SSS05), this is a difficult repair. The engineer who designed this oven should be invited to succeed elsewhere. It is impossible to access the bake element from the inside of the oven, so the How To video associated with this part will not help you. I had to remove the... Read more
Oven not heating or broiling? A failed broil element often shows blistering or breaks. DIY repair in under 30 minutes with a screwdriver.
Found a real cool Youtube video by AppliancePartsPro.com. I watched it and learned how easy it was to unhook and replace the part with proper care and precautions. It even included tips on critical steps so the wires won't slip back inside the hole and save you from hours of possible mistake. Then I ordered the part. It came the day after, then I replaced the part, meaning, I DID THE WORK! (My wife was so impressed- lol) Easy as pie... but we made and had a much nicer roast the day after.... Read more
Oven not heating or heating slowly? The bake element at the bottom of your oven cavity supplies heat for baking. Simple 2-screw, 2-wire repair.
I'm a 66 year old woman (on a fixed income) and I'd never before repaired an oven bake element . My stove is 20 years old but I still found it was much more affordable to change the bake element rather than buying a new stove. I called the number on the website and talked to a very informative woman. She answered all the questions I had about my stove. She told me about the repair video on the website which had step-by-step instructions. I ordered a new element - received it within 4 days.... Read more

Oven not heating or heating slowly? Your bake element likely failed. Located at the bottom of the oven cavity, this part restores even baking. Easy DIY fix.
First I removed the (3) wire shelves. Removed the bottom cover by removing the (2) screws in the back. This exposed the oven element. Removed the (2) screws holding the mounting bracket on the front of the element then removed the (2) screws on the silver bracket that holds the back of the element. I carefully pulled the element forward which pulls it out of the back of the oven. I pulled slightly on the (2) wires attached to the element in order to get a small amount of slack to remove them... Dryer not heating or taking multiple cycles to dry? This heating element kit restores heat generation. DIY-friendly repair, typically done in minutes.
I had to pop the lid up from the front with a screw driver, and behind the element was a metal piece, a heat shield, that had two screws that had to be removed from the back. The little part with the blue round tag (part of the kit that came with the element) was easily removed with one screw. Likewise, the element had a single longer screw holding it in on the right, and on the left a little rod was sticking through a hole in the metal, and you can merely move it to the side and up the slot,... 1) ordered new boiler element after searching for oven/stove model # online 2) unplugged oven 3) removed 2 screws holding element in place 4) pulled out the element and a length of wires attached to the element (enough that the wires wouldn't pull back into the hole after detached) 5) used needle-nosed pliers to detach wire clamps, noting which wire attached to which side of the old element 6) removed old element and its pieces from the bottom of oven 7) attached wires to new element,...
