I replaced the switch, the plunger, plunger guide and the lid cam, but the cam still didn't turn on the switch. Turned out someone had stood on the washer and bent the lid slightly, not enough to notice, but since I had ruled out just about everything else I started looking at the lid itself. I ended up bending it back close to it's original shape and now it works fine. I guess I learned a few things about washing machines though. The start button had been tricky to use. You had to push it in just a certain way to get the dryer to start. Eventually it was non-responsive. All other controls worked and there was no error code displayed. The repair was to replace the whole control board which cost around $100. Heavy sigh.. Be sure to keep track of all your screws. BTW it was not the thermal fuse. All the online videos say this is the first thing to look for when the dryer will not start. Be sure to check with the person... Read more

Symptoms: Machine was spinning and spitting a dark colored oil in a circular pattern on the floor under the machine. No strange noises, just messy. Researched issue, Gear-case bad, seal deteriorated and not preventing water from entering gear-case. The additional cam, belt etc I had replaced due to the amount of oil and transmission residue attached to them. I had replaced the Agitator cams a couple of times already due to my brother-in-law overloading the machine which stripped the teeth off of the cams. I also noticed the agitator seemed to 'wobble' and made 'knocking' noises quite a bit. Researched, then decided to try everything suggested. Cleaned the hidden filter under the washer, checked the lines and the water inlet valves, opened it up and found a hose rubbed thin because it wasn't clipped correctly during the manufacturing process. Replaced the inlet valve, pressure sensor and the thinned tube (all parts except the hose from appliance parts pros.com-had to get the hose at the car parts store).
