Fix loud grinding noise or basket won't spin issues. This washer transmission gearcase drives the agitator and basket rotation. Moderate DIY repair.
Symptoms: Machine was spinning and spitting a dark colored oil in a circular pattern on the floor under the machine. No strange noises, just messy. Researched issue, Gear-case bad, seal deteriorated and not preventing water from entering gear-case. The additional cam, belt etc I had replaced due to the amount of oil and transmission residue attached to them. Ordered parts, EVERYTHING parts-wise that is needed is included in gear-case package. **NOTE: You WILL need to get a whirlpool spanner... Read more

Structural bracket that secures the rear panel to the washer chassis. Replace if cracked, broken, or missing to restore proper alignment and cabinet stability.
In the end, with a new coupler. But I relearned old lessons the hard way. The washer is in a rental unit and the tenant complained of no spin. My first intuition was that the coupler failed again because I bought a cheaper one elsewhere a couple of years ago and not the brand name available here at AppliancePartsPros. But we’ll come back to that. Lesson #1: Verify the symptoms firsthand. I dug in right away, popped out the motor and the coupler appeared okay. When I spun it by hand, it turned... Read more

Fix a washer that fills but won't spin or agitate. This motor start capacitor stores electrical energy to help start your washer motor. DIY repair.
I was actually getting an error code for the shifter and speed sensor. I ordered a shifter, which included the speed sensor, and replaced that part but the washer still didn't work. After doing some more research online, someone mentioned that the capacitor may be bad. After talking to my dad, who is an electrician, he said it sounded like my problem could very well be the capacitor. Knowing that we'd been without a washer for almost two weeks at this point, I went ahead and ordered the... Read more
Washer won't spin or agitate? A faulty drive motor causes humming noises and stopping mid-cycle. This direct replacement restores drum rotation.
This was a tricky one to figure out. The Maytag Centennial MVWC400XW4 would fill and wash, then stop before spin cycle or would not complete the spin cycle. We had to manually move the dial to rinse & spin, etc. to get it to finish a load. This technique worked but it definitely became a pain to do and at the time we didn't notice how much longer the machine took calibrating a wash load. I called Sears initially thinking I really didn't want to mess with this and they came out. They... Read more
If your washer agitator spins freely or won't move clothes, the upper agitator may be worn. Often replaced with agitator dogs. Video guide available.
I had replaced the Agitator cams a couple of times already due to my brother-in-law overloading the machine which stripped the teeth off of the cams. I also noticed the agitator seemed to 'wobble' and made 'knocking' noises quite a bit. I reviewed the video on the Appliance Parts Pros web site, disassembled the agitator and cleaned everything up, which helped a little, but not enough. Figuring the agitator itself was worn out also, I looked up and ordered all the parts for the upper agitator on... Read more
Routes wastewater from your washer to the household drain. Replace this hose if cracked, kinked, clogged, or leaking at connections to restore proper drainage.
Prior to ordering parts I had pulled the pump strainer basket and cleaned it out. There was both soft and hard scale build up. The tub-to-pump hose was also pretty crusty/slimey. Still got warnings for SUDS and repeated F02 errors. Ordered parts and replaced the pump, tub-to-pump hose, interior drain hose and exterior drain hose (both hoses has some slime build up). The water standing in the tub when I emptied it the first time had very little suds but we kept getting the SUDS warning. ... Read more

Fix a washer that won't start when the lid is closed with this lid switch plunger. Simple DIY repair—just remove two screws and realign. Video included.
I replaced the switch, the plunger, plunger guide and the lid cam, but the cam still didn't turn on the switch. Turned out someone had stood on the washer and bent the lid slightly, not enough to notice, but since I had ruled out just about everything else I started looking at the lid itself. I ended up bending it back close to it's original shape and now it works fine. I guess I learned a few things about washing machines though. One lesson is when you pull off the controls, the hose leading... Read more

This is a water inlet valve with a built-in bimetal thermistor, used in washing machines to control the flow of water into the tub. The integrated thermistor helps regulate water temperature by sensing incoming water conditions. Replace this valve if the washer won't fill, fills with the wrong water temperature, leaks near the water connections, or continues running water when it shouldn't.
I order the part from appliance parts recieed it in one day and it was repaired the next day so simple watched video thanks to you all is well i highly recommend you to anyone barbara mcallister Read more
This is an electrically controlled water inlet valve that opens and closes to allow hot and cold water to flow into the washing machine during the fill cycle. It connects to the household water supply hoses at the back of the washer. Replace this valve if the washer is not filling with water, fills slowly, continues to fill when turned off, or leaks from the back of the machine.
Researched, then decided to try everything suggested. Cleaned the hidden filter under the washer, checked the lines and the water inlet valves, opened it up and found a hose rubbed thin because it wasn't clipped correctly during the manufacturing process. Replaced the inlet valve, pressure sensor and the thinned tube (all parts except the hose from appliance parts pros.com-had to get the hose at the car parts store). Machine has not worked this well in years, and saved hundreds in labor. Your... Read more

The start button had been tricky to use. You had to push it in just a certain way to get the dryer to start. Eventually it was non-responsive. All other controls worked and there was no error code displayed. The repair was to replace the whole control board which cost around $100. Heavy sigh.. Be sure to keep track of all your screws. BTW it was not the thermal fuse. All the online videos say this is the first thing to look for when the dryer will not start. Be sure to check with the person... Read more
