Microwave Parts

I ordered the replacement motor. I unplugged the microwave. Then I simply removed the turntable spindle by lifting it up off the motor from inside the microwave. Next, I removed the 7 screws holing the bottom of the microwave in place. I lowered the bottom of the microwave, giving me access to the motor. I unplugged the two wires connected to the motor, removed the 2 screws holding the motor in place, then put the new motor in place and reversed the steps to complete the job. Read more

We bought a house with an over-the-range microwave, which just recirculated air into our house--not effective for smoky meals! We removed the microwave and cut a hole to send the exhaust out the back of the microwave (and out of our house), but realized we were missing this damper and frame that go on the back of the microwave for rear exhaust. I used a putty knife to remove the black plastic cover on the inside of the door to expose the screws to the handle. Then using a Phillips screw driver, I removed the top and bottom screws to remove the handle. The bottom screw was stripped so I had to us a pair of pliers to grip the broken plastic handle to remove the screw. Replaced handle and tightened screws, snapped ring back in place. We followed the manufacturer's instructions about re-positioning the fan motor and installing the vent damper (easy). We constructed a duct system from the microwave to the outside of the house (challenging). We used 3.25" x 10" metal duct to start the system through the wall behind the microwave, where we added framing to reinforce a cut stud. The replacement lamp fit perfectly. I had tried other replacement lamps from the hardware store but wasn't able to find one that would fit. The lamp socket on the microwave was slightly smaller than a standard bulb. Read more

Looked online and found that someone had experienced the same issue and had replaced the cooling fan assembly for the magnetron. I ordered the parts for the assembly (motor, fan, and support), and replaced them and this fixed the problem. It took about 10 minutes to replace the parts, but lowering the unit and disassembly took around 45 minutes. This is a 25 year old built-in over-the-range appliance. Only previous problem was 1 failed door switch (of 3 total), replaced 2 years ago. First checked all 3 door switches with continuity tester, all ok. Had advice to check thermostat switches, which were all supposedly NC (normally closed), used same tester. Micro stopped working with accompanying loud hum and burning smell. Pulled out of cabinet (micro/stove combo by Electrolux) and found blown (and partially melted) magnetron. Easily found exact replacement on Appliance Parts Pros--ordered, and had micro back working in 2 days! Great search engine and pictures of parts are so helpful;. Have ordered from these folks in the past and will probably do it again. $100 part versus big cost for repair service or a replacement. Read more
