This is a 25 year old built-in over-the-range appliance. Only previous problem was 1 failed door switch (of 3 total), replaced 2 years ago. First checked all 3 door switches with continuity tester, all ok. Had advice to check thermostat switches, which were all supposedly NC (normally closed), used same tester. Micro stopped working with accompanying loud hum and burning smell. Pulled out of cabinet (micro/stove combo by Electrolux) and found blown (and partially melted) magnetron. Easily found exact replacement on Appliance Parts Pros--ordered, and had micro back working in 2 days! Great search engine and pictures of parts are so helpful;. Have ordered from these folks in the past and will probably do it again. $100 part versus big cost for repair service or a replacement. Read more

I used a putty knife to remove the black plastic cover on the inside of the door to expose the screws to the handle. Then using a Phillips screw driver, I removed the top and bottom screws to remove the handle. The bottom screw was stripped so I had to us a pair of pliers to grip the broken plastic handle to remove the screw. Replaced handle and tightened screws, snapped ring back in place. Careful placement of new screws into the inside of the outer door that now hold the frame assembly to the door secured the frame assembly to the outer door. All of the other parts I bought and replaced were a waste of money. I figured since I had them I might as well install them anyways. The replacement lamp fit perfectly. I had tried other replacement lamps from the hardware store but wasn't able to find one that would fit. The lamp socket on the microwave was slightly smaller than a standard bulb. Read more

Looked online and found that someone had experienced the same issue and had replaced the cooling fan assembly for the magnetron. I ordered the parts for the assembly (motor, fan, and support), and replaced them and this fixed the problem. It took about 10 minutes to replace the parts, but lowering the unit and disassembly took around 45 minutes. I replaced the motor by removing 5 screws from the bottom of the microwave and 1 screws from the motor. Very easy to replace, I didn't even have to remove it from the wall (I unplugged it just in case). Read more

Had to take apart the microwave door per the appliance parts pro video to replace the handle. Be careful when removing the door liner and opening the inner and outer door. This damper was added to the outside vent duct line as an additional block against outside air intrusion.
