Microwave Parts

I ordered a new magnetron and a new capacitor and after they arrived I set to work. I took plenty of pictures with my phone to remind me how the components came apart but it was pretty straight forward. Once the new parts were in and everything was reassembled the microwave worked good as new. The repair was less than a third the cost of replacement and no special tools are required. In addition to blown fuse; the fuse holder was melted at one end. Checked the unit to see if any part or wiring that would cause the issue, none was visible. Referred to wiring diagram included inside to identify components, including interlocks. All seemed functional. Bought replacement 20A fuse. Fuse holder no longer available so bought similar unit with 25A rating - little retrofitting. Put unit back together, and it's working so far. Wife is happy. Read more

We had a problem with the magnetron a few years ago while it was still under warranty so they sent me a new magnetron but when the repairman showed up he had a new one also and said just keep it as a spare (no charge). It's an over-the-range microwave so taking it down takes a little bit of an effort, cumbersome more than anything. Needles to say I was furious. The thing is practically new. I went online and ordered the parts ,they arrived in two days. Any sensible person would have looked to see if this was a job hey could do before ordering parts. I always go to How-to online to find out how to fix things , sure enough there was a shower video showing how to take the microwave door apart. Unplug your microwave. Took the screws off of the bottom of the unit with it still on the cabinet. The whole bottom panel swung down to expose the turntable motor. I took the power cable loose (just pull it off). It was one screw to take the motor out. Word to the wise: DON'T try to take the plastic coupler off before the motor. Their is a tab that holds it in while the motor is in place. If you pry it up you will break it, trust me. ;) Turn the motor out of its housing and it come right out.... Read more

Looked at schematic on AppliancePartsPros.com. Checked power, power filter, next component in line was the thermostat, found thermostat with signs of overheating, thermostat was open, replaced the thermostat, micro works perfect. Took longer to get it out than diagnose it. Read more

Opened microwave door and removed inside black trim (snaps in) with a slotted screwdriver. Removed two philips head screws holding handle to door. Handle is a two piece design that snaps together. Removed broken outer handle and snapped it back together. Cleaned black trim and glass. Reinstalled handle and black trim to complete repair. Read more
