I ordered a new magnetron and a new capacitor and after they arrived I set to work. I took plenty of pictures with my phone to remind me how the components came apart but it was pretty straight forward. Once the new parts were in and everything was reassembled the microwave worked good as new. The repair was less than a third the cost of replacement and no special tools are required. We had a problem with the magnetron a few years ago while it was still under warranty so they sent me a new magnetron but when the repairman showed up he had a new one also and said just keep it as a spare (no charge). It's an over-the-range microwave so taking it down takes a little bit of an effort, cumbersome more than anything. I tried getting this part from my knemore microwave on the Sears site. I chatted with someone, my part was backordered and when it finally came 2 months later it was wrong. So I am out shipping for that one. Then I went to Sears store and no one could help me. Couldn't even find the part on their sketches. Ordered the left and right latch, took off the trim ring, unscrewed the door face and removed it, replaced the latches and I was done! The reason these parts are so expensive is because they are METAL, not the cheap original plastic. Read more

Looked at schematic on AppliancePartsPros.com. Checked power, power filter, next component in line was the thermostat, found thermostat with signs of overheating, thermostat was open, replaced the thermostat, micro works perfect. Took longer to get it out than diagnose it. Read more
