The Broil Element is an OEM part for Whirlpool wall ovens and ranges. This heating element is responsible for the broiling function of the oven.
Located at the top of the oven cavity, the broil element functions by directing intense radiant heat downward to cook and brown food from above.
Causes may include natural wear and damage over prolonged high-heat use. Electrical malfunctions inside the element can also cause premature failure.
Symptoms of a bad broil element include:
- Failure of the broil function
- Diminished or uneven heating during broil cycles
- The presence of cracks, breaks or corrosion on the heating coils

Only the lower element was burned out, but I opted to replace both. Ordered from AppliancePartsPros and received them very quickly! A few screws, unplug and plug in the new elements, replaced the screws, and DONE! This has to be one of the easiest repairs a homeowner can do. The bottom bake burner had broken and would not heat the stove. Susan L. • Mission , TX • March 05, 2024
The stove was a 40 year old drop in model so we had to turn off the breaker to the oven before getting started. We removed the baking racks then used a small drill bit to remove the old baking element making sure not to allow the wire to slip back into the back of the stove (very important). Installed the new baking element by slipping the wire connector onto the new element. Replaced the screws, restored power, tested the oven and voila it worked. Easy peasy.

Removed 2 sheet metal screw pulled element out about 2 inches. Removed two Spade connections. Removed the element from the oven.
Inserted the new element into the over, connected the two spade connector. Reinstalled the two sheet metal screws. Set the oven to bake for testing and tested until the element turned red.
Total time less than 5 minutes.

I ordered 2 bake elements and bulbs and was able to easily fix 1 of the ovens. The serviceman who repaired the left oven did not repair it correctly so, one of the wires was not accessible so, I could only fix one oven.
After shutting off the power, I EASILY fixed the right oven - with a LOT of care and a little elbow grease - in disconnecting the broken element, by doing exactly as it said to in the video, making certain not to allow the wires to slip back into the hole that it was pulled...

Turned off breaker to oven, took pictures of existing broil, supporting bracket and shield attached to oven, removed screws holding element, support piece and shield, removed bracket and shield, pulled out the element, took another close-up picture of the wires connected to element, removed wires, connected new element, turned breaker on to see if connection is correct, turned it off, installed element, shield and support bracket (in this order). Turned breaker on.

It was a simple process to enter the model number of our glass cook top stove; learn the part number required and order. It arrived in 2-days -- least expensive shipping method.
The cooktop was removed with a Phillips-head screwdriver by 4 small sheet metal screws on the right and left side of the oven.
The oven's power to the cooktop was easily disconnected via two "clips" and one ground.
Would have cost way more with an appliance repair shop and it's an easy do-it-yourself repair.
