Baking element stopped heating up Gerard N. • Endicott , NY • January 03, 2015
Simple fix. Our oven is a GE dual fuel (gas burners on top, electric elements inside) model # J2S968SOH4SS. The lower element hidden underneath the bottom drip cover stopped heating. I had to remove the front door of the oven which is also easy to remove in order to slide out the lower drip cover. Instructions to do this are in the owners manual. Before removing the element I put the oven on bake to test the element and held my hand just above the element to feel for heat which there was none....

Genuine Bosch part
By: Bosch
Part Number: 00487251
This bake element heats the small oven cavity from below during Bake, delivering the radiant heat needed for preheating and consistent baking when the original element fails.
- Provides primary bake heat at the bottom of the small oven cavity
- Works with the oven control to preheat and maintain set temperature
- Common failure symptoms: no or weak bake heat, uneven baking, visible blistering/cracks, or a breaker trip when Bake is selected
What's included: One bake heating element for the small oven. Install notes:
- Disconnect power at the breaker before servicing
- Access is typically from inside the cavity; remove mounting screws, pull the element forward, and move wires one at a time
- Support wires so they don't retract into the insulation; avoid bending or stressing the new element
- Restore power and run a bake cycle to verify proper heating

Top broil element burned out Susan W. • Saint Charles , MO • October 29, 2016
I watched a few video's online to see how others had fixed it, then I tried to do research on the element part number. Appliance Parts Pro's were very helpful. I had to submit my model number off the stove/oven and a very helpful Customer service rep named Dannette from APP sent my pictures to their research dept. The first try was not an exact match since my oven is much older, but upon a little more research on the internet by me, I determined the correct replacement part number. Dannette...

Genuine Bosch part

Part Number: 00487252
Main broil heating element for the oven, designed to restore top-heat for broiling and browning. Replaces a failed broil element so the oven can produce even, high-intensity heat during broil cycles. What it does:
- Generates the high, direct heat at the top of the oven used for broiling and browning.
- Restores proper broil performance when the element no longer heats or glows.
- Fixes symptoms such as no broil heat, uneven browning, visible burn marks, or a broken/warped element.
- Works as the primary upper heating element used in broil cycles (main oven).
What's included: One broil element (main oven). Install notes:
- Disconnect power to the range/oven at the breaker before starting any work.
- Remove oven racks and access the element from inside the oven; element typically secures with mounting screws and terminal connectors.
- Handle terminals and sharp metal edges carefully; wear gloves and eye protection.

Turned the power off. Lifted the oven door up and off.to make access easier and to clean an replace gasket. Then unscrewed the element brackets. Cleaned oven. Took oven door apart to replace gasket ,you have to separate the door halves to clean window and get the gasket out. This is where you better take pictures and notes. You need a large work bench and a good #2 Phillips. Taking the elements out you will deal with gouged out screws, rust stripped threads etc. You may need to buy some self...
