Refrigerator Control Board

A relay in my refrigerator would periodically click off, causing the compressor motor to stop and the LEDs on the front panel to turn off. This became more frequent until it finally "blanked out" permanently. No cooling, no lights on the front panel, no water or ice, only the inside lights worked. Ordered two boards which were indicated as the possible problem. I took detailed pictures of each board before removing to assure I was reconnecting all the connections correctly. I used a long set of needle nose pliers to remove each connector. The tricky part was trying to figure out how to remove the boards. So far when I experience a power loss the frigid has successfully restarted. Fingers crossed!! Read more

I am not new to APP, fixed a tub belt on a Maytag dryer in the past. My frig started getting warm so I went onto to one of those "lists" sites and found a appliance repair place. First I called the local retailer to ask about a non-warranty service. Minimum $100 charge. Figured I would take a shot at the repair as I had fixed the fridge once before. I used a digital thermometer to verify that the temperature in the ice maker compartment was at the right temperature. I replaced the defrost thermostat and the defrost timer. That corrected the problem. Be careful when ordering your parts. I put in my model# and they gave me a defrost timer that was incorrect. I had to return at my cost and order the correct one. Don't assume because you put in your model# that the part is correct. On each part there is a box to put in your model# to check to see if it fits your model. Don't assume that because you put your model# in before that it fits. If not sure, call them... Read more

After calling maytag they informed me of a $85.00 appointment fee that didn't include parts or labor. I decided to repair it myself!
