This was a 2000 model so rather than just replace the defrost timer which was visibly burnt on the terminals, we just did everything. The cold control, defrost timer, thermostat, defrost heater and the compressor capacitor were all replaced. The rubber seal/gasket was torn on our KitchenAid refrigerator right side door. I purchased the replacement and followed the directions/recommendations of how to prepare the new gasket for installation. When it's removed from the shipping box, it does have wrinkles and preparing it is a must. I set it out on our tile floor and then used a heat gun (low setting) to warm it up and massage it. I had to purchase the whole glass and support for the drawer and throw out the old glass and everything but the support brackets from the original. Had to remove the support brackets from the original drawer support and install them on the new one. Easy job just a lot of wasted product for a small broken piece. Read more

• Ice maker dispenses too much ice

Replaced ice maker. Some confusion as to which part # it was as the model number cross reference shows the one I purchased was not for my model refrigerator when it actually was. Secondly, a few comments from others said the switch out was simple. Only 3 screws holding in the ice maker although one of the three was in a tight spot . That is technically true. This was a tough fix because there were two causes to my problem - a stuck water valve and a bad ice maker. I first replaced the water valve, but that did not resolve the problem. Tested existing water valve and found that the valves were working properly. Returned the water valve - easy RMA process and no issues. Replaced the ice maker and problem solved. Read more
