The Washer Lid Strike is an OEM part for Whirlpool washing machines. It is a metal bracket that secures the washer lid in a closed position during cycles. The lid strike has a spring-loaded arm that catches the lid tab, providing a tight seal and secure closure.
Causes of a bad lid strike can include normal wear and tear over many cycles, damage from repeated impact or mishandling of the lid, or deterioration of components like the springs.
Symptoms of a defective lid strike include:
- The washer lid not latching properly or staying securely closed
- Water leaks around the lid seam
- Error codes related to the lid not locking
- Difficulty opening the lid fully after cycles
This OEM replacement part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore washers.
