Whirlpool Control Board

I replaced the Thermostat and Defrost Timer. It was a fairly easy repair other than removing the old Defrost Timer. The way the manufacturer, in this case, Amana, mounts that unit with "clips" is just poor design and engineering. It is virtually impossible to get the timer out without damaging the mounts. The most challenging part of this was determining what the problem was. At first I thought the clutch (or related parts) had worn out, but by chance, I pulled on the timer knob, and the machine started spinning. When I let it go, it stopped. I had ordered several parts from Appliance Pros and installed parts that did not solve the problem. Return the parts and was going to give up. Called Appliance Pros Tech and she suggested that I try installing a User Interface Board. She sent me the new board and problem solved. Dishwasher working like new. Read more

Popped the back control panel and checked where the power comes in. Had power. On the other side of that component there was no power. Found the problem. The hardest part was finding where they hid the model number. Up and under the back of the lid. Nice hiding place. Read more

Replaced touch pad. Did run into a little problem. the new pad flashed up a code PED000 apparently the pad had to be programmed using the code from the serial number plate. Whirlpool service was zero help said code didn't exist. Found instructions how to do it on line. Found it on Google by asking what does this code mean. Did some research via the internet and figured the problem was likely the moisture control board. Watched a video of the repair of a similar unit in order to locate the moisture control board. Used the chat feature with one of the Appliance Parts Pros to get a schematic of the dryer and advice about where to use the putty knife to release the springs for access to the board.
