Dishwasher leaking from bottom or making grinding noise? The sump housing often cracks or wears out. Moderately difficult repair, about 45 minutes.
I noticed the floor around the dishwasher was starting to get wet and warp the wooden floor. The chopper had gotten out of line and had cut a pinhole into the sump housing and the dishwasher was leaking badly. It was quite easy to repair. Just unhook the drain hose and the wire connectors, twist off the turbidity sensor and waste motor, pull out the shims and the whole assemple comes up and out. The hardest part was pulling the motor off of the assembly, since I wasn't sure if I needed to... Read more
This circulation pump recirculates water through the spray arms during the wash and rinse cycles. Replacing a failing pump restores proper wash pressure and helps resolve poor cleaning, no-spray conditions, and loud humming from the motor.
The easiest way to fix the problem was to order a new water pump from AppliancePartsPros. After my husband replaced the water pump, the washer drains the water and works perfectly. Read more

Fix dishwasher not cleaning, grinding noise, or leaking from center. This sump and motor assembly distributes water to spray arms. Moderate DIY repair.
Bought a new sump/motor assembly to make it an easy swap out instead of buying just the motor. Assembly also came with a new diverter motor so I won't have to worry about having to go back in there if that failed. I also purchased new turbidity sensor and drain pump (which I found out had a small leak in addition to starting to fail) since I was already in there. The machine works like it's brand new now. I watched the appliancepartspros.com video to make sure I had identified the right part before I ordered it. Removed the 4 Torx (T-20) screws to remove the bottom tray, loosened the 2 steel adjustable hose clamps and disconnected the hoses from the old pump. I called AppliancePartsPros, talked to a technician to validate problem, ordered part. I had a great talk with the technician. Told him I have electrical engineering experience, used to fix pinball machines and that the pinballs and home appliances were the same design, i.e. inductor in series with a switch across the hot lines. After that the conversation was like two long lost cousins talking at a family barbeque! Great customer service! Read more
