Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Washing machine would not drain   Chauncey H. • Menan , ID • October 05, 2014

Washing machine pump failed with the washing machine full of water. Replacing a pump used to be a bear of a job with belts, pulleys, etc. but I thought that I should give it a look before I called the repairman. This one turned out to be a small discrete unit bolted to the bottom of the washer. I ordered the new pump, which came very quickly to my door. It was a ten minute job to replace it. Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Sump seal leaked water into diverted motor and of course our floor this is my 2nd kitchenaid to have this problem   William L. • Taylors , SC • September 14, 2015

DIY, changed motor and sump. Put a dab of valve lubricant on seal. Wet outer seal of sump to get it to seat in bottom of tub. Cleaned electrical connectors corroded by leak. Coated connectors with dielectric grease. Had to buy additional clamp. Two clamps came in the sump package but both fit the smaller hose only. Neither fit the large hose. I wish the correct clamps were included. Home improvement store clamp is a little too wide to fit between ridges in large hose. Read more
