No cooling from refrigerator lights worked but compressor did not run Jeff B. • Ovalo , TX • May 07, 2015
Checked compressor windings - ok. Start relay looked no rattle or burning. Start capacitor seamed ok but hard to check. No 120VC to start relay at any time. Ordered thermistor, and electronic control unit. Figuring it was a bad thermistor not telling the ECU it was warm and to turn on the compressor. Or the ECU was damaged and was not sending the 120v to the compressor. Changed the thermistor first (cheapest part and as Appliance parts pros has a return policy I wanted to start there). ...

Water leaking into fresh food compartment freezed frosted over Charles L. • Frankfort , IL • July 18, 2016
This is a 15 yr old Kenmore (GE) refrigerator with top mounted freezer...
I knew, for awhile, that I had a DEFROST problem. That was causing water to collect on the inside bottom of the fridge, under the veg./fruit bins. And then occasionally run out onto the kitchen floor if I didn't sop up the water inside. But I delayed the repair because of the hassle of emptying the food, top and bottom, and finding temporary homes for it all. Until I noticed 3 things happen in short order.
1)The water...

Repeating freezing of defrost drain. Frank A. • Greenwood , IN • February 21, 2022
Fridge keept building up ice in defrost drain drain in freezer. Once the drain pan filled with ice it drips into fridge compartment. After taking things apart three times to thaw it out, decided to replace defrost components - heater and temperature switch. In addition to new parts, also added a 12 gauge copper wire hook that hangs from defrost heater into the defrost drain.
After this, the defrost cycle is running as expected, but will not know if the issue is corrected until a year or so...

Fresh food side temp display says 37 degrees but inside ff side measures over 40 degrees. John N. • Southlake , TX • February 03, 2018
This fridge has had a problem of ice building up around evaporator coil in fresh food side. Wife (she HATES this thing) says it's done this from day one; 10 years. GE guy says all these models do this and there's no fix for it, so we have clean out the ice periodically... Like the 1940s pre auto defrost.
Now with the issue of FF side temp too highi assumed the ice had built up around FF evaporator coil preventing proper cooling, but AppliancePartsPros.com suggested the FF temp thermistor may...

The icemaker not making ice. David S. • Lawrenceville , GA • July 17, 2021
Got the infamous icemaker freezing up problem so common to Frigidaire Gallery and Professional series refrigerators. I was also only getting the "OP" code on the diagnostic test 26, so I determined the defrost heater and/or the thermostat was probably bad. So, I went ahead and replaced both of them, as well as installed the updated air handler housing kit. What I didn't realize from the parts pictures was that the air handler kit was not only updated foam replacements, but it was also a...

The evaporator coil kept getting heavily frosted and the compressor ran almost continuously Reid D. • Santa Maria , CA • April 01, 2016
The defrost heater element looked good and had continuity. The defrost thermostats checked good, so that just left the Defrost Module as the likely suspect. I installed a new defrost control module and thermostats. The thermostats were inexpensive and the old ones could have been intermittent,
The only "tricky" part was finding out how to get to the back screw that holds the main control panel. Discovered that the return air duct surrounding the control panel needed to come off. It helps...
