BEWARE THE HAIRDRYER In an effort to unfreeze the indoor water supply line with a hairdryer the extreme heat deformed not only the activator paddle but the housing that surrounds it. In the time it took to order and install replacement parts the frozen blockage had thawed. This was a two and half year issue as different things failed at different times. I would get one part, then another would fail. Ultimately, I got to a point where what failed, I hadn't been ordered the part yet. The seal on the freezer door took three bathing's before it plumped up and un-creased. I ordered a replacement auger from AppliancePartsPros.com. Upon receipt of the new auger, I watched the repair video and took the ice crusher apart. I found several other parts that needed to be replaced as well. Once All the parts were received, I again watched the video. The video was not specific enough to show how to reassemble the ice crusher blades and the two types of washers. I drilled old lock out and installed new lock box. This was the info your Tech had given me and as always your Techs are on top of all situations. This took about 15 minutes and it's back collecting money. Thanks for such quick and reliable service. Removed the broken ice enclosure tray, disconnecting and removing the motor and cube/crushed ice selector mechanism. Mounted the motor and selector mechanism to the rear of the new ice tray enclosure and installed the enclosure to the freezer compartment walls. Read more

Ordered new enclosure. Place ice maker into 'off' position. Remove ice tray assembly by pulling forward. Unscrew left hand side screw under old enclosure. Pulled broken part forward and up slightly. Unhooked wire harness from back of freezer. You can reach from underneath pulled out part. Or from top if you tilt rear of part down. Pull assembly out. Remove solenoid and motor. 4 screws each. I replaced the evap fan motor assembly after thawing out the evaporator. I replaced the evap motor assembly because i damaged it while defrosting the evaporator. Too much heat warped the fan blade and bracket. I replaced the motor because of the abnormal load it was put under when it was making all the noise from trying to spin through the ice buildup on the evaporator.
