Amana model afd2535deb freezer cold fridge too warm not defrosting Dan R. • Woodruff , SC • November 09, 2015
Toughest part of this repair is figuring out how to get things apart. Amana doesn't provide you a repair manual showing how to disengage the various plastic covers. Initially disassembled the bottom freezer compartment so I could get to the evaporator coils; they were completely frozen in block of ice, restricting air flow to the fridge above. Obviously, the auto defrost cycle had not been running, or was short-cycling. Manually defrosted. Found this link for running diagnostic tests on the...

Freezer at 27 degree "f" and frig at 56 degree "f" too warm Jorge A. • El Paso , TX • May 20, 2018
I am a home owner with no technical experience on doing refrigerator failures diagnostic/repair. So, I look for internet DIY type of help describing the symptoms.
I found recommendations from Appliance Parts Pros going from the easy to the complex potential parts failures and decided to order the compressor start relay and the compressor overload.
While waiting for the overnight delivery, came to my mind and decided to look to the freezer compartment and found frost all along the coils panel....

The evaporator coil kept getting heavily frosted and the compressor ran almost continuously Reid D. • Santa Maria , CA • April 01, 2016
The defrost heater element looked good and had continuity. The defrost thermostats checked good, so that just left the Defrost Module as the likely suspect. I installed a new defrost control module and thermostats. The thermostats were inexpensive and the old ones could have been intermittent,
The only "tricky" part was finding out how to get to the back screw that holds the main control panel. Discovered that the return air duct surrounding the control panel needed to come off. It helps...

Replaced defrost sensor in freezer compartment, if you are handy this is a do it yourself job. The cover in the freezer section just pops out not tools needed. You will need a few small zip ties and some cutters to remove the old zip ties. Take a picture were the old sensor was before removing and reinstall in the same place. I used a meter to check continuity of the defrost element and found the element to be ok. I was quoted $85 to have someone come to the house just to check the unit and...

Ice melting to a large clump and frost build up GE gss20ietdbb for years no parts were helping issue. Dustin M. • Charlotte , NC • January 07, 2023
My GSS20IETD BB side-by-side refrigerator had been having the ice form into a single mass over a period of a week after cleaning it out. It actually kept breaking my ice maker auger and pushing the slide-in tray or shelf over the ice maker up breaking it also. Frost would form all over food after about a couple of weeks. The ice auger motor would freeze up and stop turning. The coils did not have frost on them when I was able to view them. I replaced the thermistors in the freezer, defrost the...

Frig not cold and not all item in the freezer were being frozen ice not being made Gary M. • Raleigh , NC • September 30, 2015
My Frigidaire side by side refrigerator/freezer suffered a catastrophic failure. The symptoms were as follows:
1) Frig not cold
2) No Ice being made in the freezer section
3) Items at the back of the freezer were frozen but items on the door shelves would not freeze. The back of the freezer was cold but the closer you got to the door the warmer it got.
After removing everything from the unit I saw that there was substantial ice buildup on back of the freeze, specifically around the vents,...

Freezer was cold but refrigerator was warm Beth M. • Marengo , IL • August 06, 2018
After we moved into our new home, we realized that the freezer was very cold and the fins were frosting over, and the refrigerator wasn't cold. We had to take it apart and manually defrost it about once every 8 to 10 days. After research online, we found Appliance Parts Pros videos, which clearly explained how to fix it ourselves, a savings of at least $1,000 or more, since a new one of this size would have been in the arena of $1,200 to $2000. We ordered the three most likely parts to be bad,...

Amana br18vw refrigerator wasn't staying cold Adrian B. • Chicago , IL • February 08, 2015
I am not new to APP, fixed a tub belt on a Maytag dryer in the past. My frig started getting warm so I went onto to one of those "lists" sites and found a appliance repair place. The guys were great and came out right away. The tech said it was the cold control and $260 later my part was replaced, about 30 minutes. Great I thought until my frig started getting warm again. Those cold sensors on the beer bottles are a great indicator. Not wanting to spend another $260 I looked up on APP to see if...

Water overflowing into ice bucket David C. • Wichita Falls , TX • June 17, 2015
Samsung refrrigerator. it started when the setting was on cubes but was putting out crushed ice. then months later the water refill was running down into the ice bucket causing a massive block of ice in the bucket. look closely at the first two or three cubes in the ice tray after they unload. mine were not dumping and staying in the tray. when the water refill kicked on it would overfill the tray (because of the leftover cubes remaining in the tray) and would run down into the ice bucket...

Coil in freezer iced up and refrigerator would not cool David M. • Ambridge , PA • December 10, 2015
My unit has a bottom freezer that is a drawer. I had to remove the drawer, rack, glides, glide tracks, and ice maker to remove the rear panel. This was a little difficult but after researching a few videos on line I learned some tricks that made it easier. I used a hair dryer to melt the ice. This is best done with 2 people having one at the back to sponge the water into a bowl from the pan to avoid a water mess. Using a bolt meter I checked the heating element and found it had continuity. I...

No cooling from refrigerator lights worked but compressor did not run Jeff B. • Ovalo , TX • May 07, 2015
Checked compressor windings - ok. Start relay looked no rattle or burning. Start capacitor seamed ok but hard to check. No 120VC to start relay at any time. Ordered thermistor, and electronic control unit. Figuring it was a bad thermistor not telling the ECU it was warm and to turn on the compressor. Or the ECU was damaged and was not sending the 120v to the compressor. Changed the thermistor first (cheapest part and as Appliance parts pros has a return policy I wanted to start there). ...
