This Maytag dryer was bought in 1985 if memory serves. It has worked hard with few repairs done by yours truly over the years. Thanks to the engineering and excellent design by Maytag staff, removing parts are relatively easy. Once I opened the unit, I found it to be full of lint. Started my Maytag dryer (model LDE8200ACW) with a large load early Saturday morning and immediately heard a noticeable thumping noise as the drum turned. Opened the door and checked to make sure some of the laundry hadn’t wadded up and was causing the thumping. Restarted it but the thumping was still present. Had to purchase a new filter as the felt does not feed back into the ridge in the filter. It seems to me that the felt should not pull out so easily. My dryer isn't even a year old so I think this is a design failure. But the new filter works great and hopefully we won't have this problem again. Thank you for your prompt service! Read more

I would remove the knobs from the other switches to replace the timer one when it would break until all the knobs were broken. My wife kept blaming me for being a brute but i swear i was gentle when turning the knob. i ordered all new ones and guess what...the new knobs are reinforced with a metal ring to keep the plastic from splitting. guess it wasn't shear brute strength after all and just a inferior part.. I replaced the heating element supplied by AppliancePartsPros.com. It took me longer than the estimated 30 minutes to an hour cited in the good instructional video. A few things took more time than I had expected: 1. Removing the top of the dryer unit resulted in my breaking off the three plastic tabs that is used to anchor the top to the structure below. After having replaced the drum support rollers twice in a roughly 3yr period, I realized something wasn't quite right, and indeed it wasn't. I replaced the motor and all other moving components along with the felt drum seals.drum glides and drive belt. The wiring instruction is where i had the most problems. Went ahead and replaced the pulley as well the drum bearing sleeve and O ring, drum belt and the front drum bearing slides. Put the unit back together and she ran like a top! Read more
